Ok let’s spell it out, a cringe in this case is when someone says something that someone else may find a bit of a David Brent type moment, and a perp, as you alluded to a trip to the US is a word often used in those old cop series, the perpetrator. So you were the perpetrator of a slightly comical IMO question, my answer was nothing more than the same, a David Brentism nothing more.
