You're absolutely right. 'Designated,' is for Association Football matches only.

So what you're saying is that the professional sport of Rugby League's Super League games are not designated sporting events? Are you sure? Coz i'm pretty sure that Warrington RLFC would have something to say about that if you told them that haha.

The Law states it is an offence to allow the carriage of alcohol on a PSV that is being used for the principal purpose of carrying passengers for the whole or part of a journey to or from a designated sporting event.

A designated sporting event generally means any association Football Match National or International. It is stated as a Designated sporting event so it is easy to add to the Football aspect should any other sport such as Snooker or Darts, start to attract Hooligans.

So basically it's a catch all phrase that they can easily just add 'rugby' to if we started misbehaving rather than change the legislation completely, cheers CM.
