This "real fan" stuff always puzzles me n all.

As you can probably tell from my location, I'm not based in warrington, I moved north about 20 years ago as a kid. I'm not from a rugby family but my grandad and my uncle got me into the game.

As an adult, I live in cumbria, I compete at a decent level in another summer sport and I have a GF who isn't into sport. I have to pick and choose my games (usually once a month) and watch the rest on telly when I can. Its that or nowt.

Now, I know this makes me lower than low to some or shows some lack of commitment,but I know what I feel for the club and excitied I get walking into the ground etc. So I don't really care.

I'm a wire, end of.

As soon as someone mentions glory hunters we see posts about a fella who went for years but can't now because of ill health and people who live in Australia and Egypt so obviously can't go regularly but went the extra mile (or 10,000) to get to Wembley.

They're one offs and obviously not your average run of the mill glory hunters.

The fact is though we have thousands who show up at a big final and aren't interested week in week out. Are they Warrington supporters? Not in my opinion.

I take your point on the week off, although it's more important for you to have the week off because of Wembley.

I don't think Wire winning at Knowsley Road in the last meeting would lose us any sleep. Losing to you in the last ever Knowsley Road game full stop, would. I used to fear losing THE record but the whole thing has become a millstone now and I'd be quite happy to see the back of it, so we can play the important game out like a normal derby between two great sides without the fear of the law of averages kicking in, it being destiny or it being in the stars and all that crap!

If we were to lose on Friday then win two weeks later at the HJ, then I would be a very happy man. I'd take that right now because I can't see us beating you twice, and the second match is the one we all need to win to make Old Trafford.

You had that before the glory hunters. It isn't them that's ever been the problem.

Every club in almost every sport has glory hunters so get over it.I say welcome them with open arms even if it's just for a final as without them Wembley(both teams)would have looked very empty not to mention a e atmosphere which would not have been a very good advert for the sport.
