i couldn't give a hoot about any other teams finances, ours are rock solid with tremendous backing,we operate within the rules of the game and do not gamble financially, good luck to the bulls with orford but he is a cash cow,we offered him a 3 year deal on comparable terms to what bradford have a few years ago but he only wanted big bucks for a 12 month stint,i'd be interested to see if he does the full 3 years though.
hull kr look like they are trying to shuffle their books as all is not what it seems from last years accounts could they be joining the ranks of the other super league clubs that have operated outside the rules, some of us have our house in order, some don't but the powers that be don't seem to think that these flagrant breaches of the rules merit sufficient punishment.

I've enjoyed Adeybull's fact finding mission, and certainly take it more as fact than some of the other tosh spouted on here.

However, what exactly has it proved, other than Simon Moran has deep pockets and is prepared to back his investment with hard cash??

I suppose what it may prove, is that if you take Moran out of the equation anytime in the near future, then Wire truly are in the $h!te??

Like most clubs it's a wealthy backer that makes the difference between prosperity and mediocrity. Its even worse in wendyball.

Quite the opposite I believe. What the figures show is that Warrington are under-pinned (as Adey Bull has highlighted a couple of times) by a massive net assett of £12m.

It is when your debts exceed your assets that (and Adey will pick me up on my terminology) you become insolvent. Our debts are about £2m giving the company a nett positive position of £10m. I doubt any other club in Super League could match it. Its strange that whilst some like to poke fun at our "off-the-shelf stadium" it is the rock under-pinning the club's future; with or without Moran.

The figures should also be compared against previous years, I think 2007 was a small loss whilst 2006 was a profit of about £200k so over a three year period not far off breaking even (stand to be corrected by Rogues Gallery, although as a pensioner he can't afford the £1 to get the info and will wait for Adey Bull to do his thinking for him).

So when we find ourselves in times of trouble (as Paul McCartney once sang) we simply flog off our IKEA stadium???

Well hopefully we'll never find ourselves in that situation. Think the current board have spent the last few years getting the club back on an even footing after previous years of mis-management. Still some way to go but heading in the right direction.

Most probably but I think one positive is that we know Moran is a fan so I'm optimistic he'll be involved for a long time.

Interesting what makes a player class as a "cash cow", would our new halfback fit this description I wonder, supposedly offered a deal to make him Salford's best player in history (and this lad's been in Super League how long? five minutes?) which he turned down, had Offiah touting him round the clubs to get him a big deal and meanwhile Myler lost focus and lost interest in playing for Salford so his form went downhill....?

I wonder if Bradford are the ones making a big financial gamble or us? Sure he has made a good start to his first season in Super League, so did Kevin Penny when he got in the Dream Team. Lots of people said that signing Chris Hicks was a backwards move because he was old and only over here for the money when we should be looking to develop Penny, but I'd rather Hicks was on a big deal than Penny.

Not saying Myler isn't going to make it, Tony Smith is a good judge of a player which eases my worries, but I don't think we should be so brash in calling Bradford for taking a gamble on a proven top player for whom the only gamble is his advancing years (ie the same gamble Warrington took on players like Langer and Morley who have done well)....past experience doesn't bode too well for the "flavour of the month" British halfback going onto be a world beater. Luke Robinson, Kevin Brown, Chris Thorman, Danny Orr all had their times when people raved about them like they did Myler.

But it depend on what your assets are doesn't it.
Is it the stadium. is it the players, is it the land.

Are they real assets in that if they are sold where would it leave you?
Dave Whelan who has far more money than Moran backed Wigan and Wigan Athletic.

Adeybull is far more qualified than I am to take this further.

The truth is that the game as a whole is losing money and it can't go that way.

Wouldn't it be good if we were coming on these message boards discussing which clubs had made most profit?

I don't know but I have never seen his name on the "rich list" but Whelan has been listed there.

Does that make a little more sense?

That is the crux of the situation. Moran's wealth is completely unknown, I imagine the personal elements of his business (ie; personal wealth), are as closely guarded as his private life.

I would imagine a company that has a near monopoly over music promotion in Britain, must have incredible wealth. What the actual value of that is, is anybody's guess.

So we'll agree we don't know icon_lol.gif

But those who put the "rich list" together I presume normally would know.

I think it's safe to say that Mr. Moran is a lot more wealthy than I am.

it wasn't a case of offiah touting him round to the highest bidder, salford contacted warrington and offered the player to us,the player also wanted to come here so it is slightly different to orford who asked his agent to find him the best deal regardless of where it took him,in orfords own words once the deal was struck he "was glad he didn't have to think about it for too long",if rochdale hornets would have come in at the eleventh hour he'd have gone there!
