Yes I was wondering about him. He showed some obvious class, but his corrosive influence did undermine it somewhat. Wasn't he the first to be shown the door under TS?

| "that came with big reputations and delivered"
I don't think Chris Hicks or Lee Briers fall in this category, just like Brian Bevan doesn't.
What about our other RU converts ...
Kevin Ellis
Rowland Phillips (?)

I agree with you regarding Hicks and to some extent the Briers and Bevan B they should be in the category coming without the reputation and smashing it!!

Nah, I clearly recall someone on the previous Wires forum saying he was old, overweight and just here for well.paid holiday.

Also I can't remember how big Gareth Carvell's reputation was before he joined, but his performances were up there with Morley and Hill.

Monitoring outside for the people inside: |
|
| I was always a fan of Gary Mercer, great player in a poor team. As for delivering big, it doesn't get bigger than Chris Hicks.

| Oh ruddy nora not the Farrar myth again.....I'd have him in my disappointment 17. He wasn't good for us, just happened to folllow on from some poor hookers.

Farrar was OK but his reputation probably soured with the fans because of the excessive farewell we gave him, chairing him off the field for an ovation in the last game of 2000 when Forster and Hilton who were also released didn't get anything. It summed up the idea that there was an Aussie clique at the top of the club.
I think Farrar played three seasons, 98-00, and in that first season when we were at the worst point we ever were in the SL era, Farrar had a good year and so stood out. After that he was just OK, but he was playing through injuries and so had the warhorse appeal.
