| The whole situation is not great and realistically going forward the club's need to try and take these scenarios in future contracts when being negotiated. Both wire n Leeds should take any offer for them to draw a line under it.

I wonder if Sale have got the backing of the RU on this one? If so their friends in high places could spell real problems for the future of RL...but I suppose there's nothing new in that.

| Quote: Winslade's Offload "Well there is an upside to all this. Over the last 12 months, for some reason or other, the pound has dropped by around 20-25 % against the Euro and US dollar (although it's doing very well against the Zimbabwean currency, which I think is called the dried elephant turd). But anyway, it's also dropped by the same amount against the Aussie dollar. Hence Aussie stars will soon be completely out of reach for RL clubs and we will not have to worry about contract problems at all.
..... course that does mean our better players are dirt cheap for the NRL so we may lose a few more, but it will allow some of our past academy players like Danny Bridge, Glen Riley, Ryan Shaw etc a chance to play SL. And of course it would be great to welcome the likes of Jordan Cox and Anthony England back again. If it wasn't for the contract problems, we might even have asked Roy Asotasi to ......, no I think perhaps that really is going a bit far.'"
You're a bit out of date there friend. I think you will find the drop in the pound is now considerably less.

| Think you will find that, despite a small recent improvement, the £ is still down by nearly 20% compared with 12 months ago on the Aus $.

| The apathetic, shoulder-shrugging, tut-tutting subservient inaction on display by the RFL and the British game as a whole over the Sandow, Solomona and Segeyaro incidents is another sign that the professional game in England is on life-support, and fading fast.
The players, agents, NRL and RU are collectively holding us up to ridicule, and laughing at the jelly-spined responses being muttered in response. Frankly, yes, if we have to go to court to stop Sandow (and the other two) signing for any club and force him to see out the rest of his contract sat doing nothing then that's fine by me.
People who say "what's to be gained" need to understand that this isn't about a player being homesick, it is about the integrity of the sport, the reputation of the game as a professional sport and quite simply, what is right and wrong, what is acceptable and what is not.

Yeah because that's the extent to which we rely on imports

Interestingly the pound was in a worse state back in the times afer the credit crunch from 2010 to 2013 when we won two cups and a LLS. ...
From memory superleague was full of Aussie stars back then...Monaghans Hodgson Hoffman finch Blake green. Etc. .
I don't think it's anything to do with conversion rates at all its the fact that Segeyaro sandow and solomona are greedy and don't respect the people that offered them a life line or a chance and paid them well. ...very well in some cases.
They have snatched the first better offer that has come their way.
Whats worse is that all three houses will end up at clubs that denied any initial interest in them. ..
Its business but dirty business if you ask me. I hope all parties get their just deserts. ..

| From what I've seen of wing play in RU, there's a fair chance that Solomona will catch pneumonia more often than a rugby ball.

| What a terrible fight between him and carney! I'd have given it to Sandow based on the fact he landed one punch out of 20 thrown whilst carney landed zero out of 5 punches thrown

| Was this fight some kind of grudge match or an eliminator to fight the kangaroo that took Joe Bugner's Aussie title off him ?
Talking about money the £/Dollar exchange rate was even worse in 2011...it could cost about equivalent to £20 for four drinks in a pub.

He's deregistered, so I don't think he would take up a space. Hull KR deregistered Dobson to bring in Willie Mason didn't they?
It's not really an issue for us though, we only have two Aussies in the 30 man squad. I'm not 100% sure as the rules seem to change all the time, but I think the current quota is 7 total non fed trained, with a limit of 5 from Aus / NZ. So we have more room than we need, 5 more players potentially.
There seems to have been a conscious move in the past 2/3 years to bring in young British, international or potential international players in to the club. A wise move really given the movement in AUD GBP exchange rate.
