| Mathers just wants you all on here talking about his tweets. Sad really because we all know he is leaving the wire and he must think we care about where he goes or what he does in the future. He has been ok for us but all his comments on twitter have made me see him in a different light. Tony Smith brought him to the wire from Wigan and rebuilt his confidence and helped him improve his game. As soon as he hears we are getting Bret Hodgson he starts tweeting and turns down a year contract at the wire.

Hes been tweeting all season and hes 26 so wants to be first choice full back not just playing when hodgson is rested. I want him to stay but you cannot blame him for making the most of his career.

Would love him to stay, but as you say, can't blame him @ that stage of his career wanting to be 1st choice full back

| The whole is Mathers staying, is he going to Union, is he going to Catalan, will he accept a one year deal.

see i questioned that the other week, i totally understand the wanting to be first choice in your position, but the two viewpoints that are made in reference to players career choices are:
A; best contract(short career)
B; win trophies.
Since we won the cup we've had all these players statements about this is the team to win trophies, this the place to be etc. Players want to win trophies, we had fozzard leaving us for want to win trophies.
Surely being a well used squad player here would be better than first choice at cas or somewhere like that (sorry cas, current situations and all that)
How do you think karl fitzpatrick feels being first choice at salford? i reckon he'd jump at the chance to come here and be a bit part player.

| Guess it depends how much you like playing? Do you just want your pay cheque and don't care if you come in off the bench or do you just want to play? Not sure Mathers is the former.
Shame he can't kick.

being a first choice player influences the size of the contact as well.....if you are a squad player and you get released, its harder to negotiate a good deal somewhere else and convince them that you are a leading SL player

| I am expecting something big to be announced, you don't walk away from a big club like Warrington when there is only one crunching tackle between you being second choice fullback and first choice fullback.
