I often cringe hearing the word legend being banded around. Domic is not a Warrington legend by a long chalk, neither are any the likes of Nat Wood or Toa Kohe Love. Good players, maybe. Legend... Not a chance

| Is Jonathan Davies really a legend? One of the best players ever to play for Warrington yes, but legend?

Yes. Would be in most peoples best ever team and very nearly lifted our team into being champions.

i can see where ancw is coming from on this, for one season, he did, the next season and a half, not so much. PArtly due to injury granted.
How does that balance out in the overall picture?
One player comes in, and transforms a team, gets them performing to a level above where they normally would be? Can you classify graham appo like this then?

Appo had a superb half season, then got a new contract, re-discovered pizzas and takeaways and reverted to type, turned out to be more of a leg end than a legend.
Legends are those who give fantastic service and stay with the Club through thick and thin.

oh i'm not suggesting by any means that appo be considered anything, i'm playing devils advocate and will sink the battleship of anyone normally that suggests he was anything other than on a moderately hot streak.
i'm just apportioning criteria for legend status, or trying to see what the criteria would be, personally i wouldn't classify either of them as a legend.
Ps, appo was more like a good quarter of a season,e very other week at best.

| There has to be something that seperates "longevity" from "legendary", otherwise players such as; Paul Cullen; Lee Penny; Mark Forster; and Mike Wainwright; all with 200+ appearances and over 10 years at the club, and definately through "thin & thinner times", fall within a "legendary" status.
But, realistically, it all comes down to personal preference.

| I think Cullen and Forster have better claims to legendary status than Davies, but I probably wouldn't include any of them. I'm not even sure I'd include Briers but I probably would in the end. Brian Bevan is the only one I'd 100% include.

| Wire Legends since I've been watching (1979)
John Bevan
Mike Greg
(can't really comment on Parry Gordon, as he was at the "fag-end" of his career)
Possibly Briers
Mentioned in dispatches
Possibly Briers
Morley (when you look at it, he missed many games)
Jackson
Boyd (4 years, broken arms didn't help)
Davies (only did 26 months)
Excellent players
Mark Roberts
Andrew Johns (only 3 games though)
Phil Blake
Martin Gleeson (just his commitment when Smith arrived, let him down)
Ken Kelly
Tamati
Bateman
Woods
Drummond
Longevity/clubmen
Cullen, Forster, Hesford, Sanderson
obviously I've missed a few
Please, please, please
Can nobody include Domic, Kohe-Love, Burns, and Nat "half-back with an allergy to passing the ball" Wood in any of the above. All v. good players, but not in the categories mentioned above (imo, of course)

| Surely Briers is....longevity and quality. Not his fault he played through a long period in weak teams.

| Can't have a worst 13 without the laziest bloke ever to wear the P&B imo. Tony Tatupu. Could play the game but just couldn't be ars@d. Fortunately he was only on a one season 'deal'.

| Anyone remember Brian Butler? Awful welsh prop who signed from Bradford, another strong candidate.
