I can understand your view, I just think there's a lot more to come from him and at the moment some of his decision making is iffy particularly within set plays. His ' high ball under pressure' doesn't inspire me with confidence and I can imagine him and Thewlis being bombed all match long by Saints.

My post wasn't talking much about the top 5 as such, more about his positional play that they picked up on - particularly in relation to where Williams was.
FWIW I agree with you top 3 but Field and Welsby agead.

| Quote: easyWire "That's just bizarre. Not sure whether he's an eccentric prima donna or has mental health / social issues, but it sounds like Burgess respects him as a good player, just maybe not as a typical 'Burgess-last-man-standing' type player. The team comes first and if that means we persevere with Wrench and Ratchford (Lindop?) then so be it. Ive got faith in Burgess to get the best out of what we've got.
Shame, as I thought he'd turned a corner with his year away in a different environment.'"
It's absolutely nothing to do with the latter and absolutely everything to do with the former. He's a whiny prima-donna who spent last season on loan at a team that ultimately ended up winning Super League, he's now had to return to a club he quite obviously doesn't want to be at (good job he's not an actor as he'd be a pretty **** one!) and because he's had to come back, he's moping around the place and has done sod all since he's been back. Every time he takes the field his expression is of someone who's being forced at gunpoint to play, and when he scores, his celebrations are about on par with someone who's dog has been run over. It's now gotten to the stage where he's feigning injury just so he doesn't have to play.
I'm with Wire71 on this; if he's not committed to the cause, then give his shirt to someone who would be willing to bleed for the club. I'm more than happy to drive the 212 miles down to Warrington, and then drive him to wherever the hell he is so desperate to go. The sooner the club gets shut of him, the better.

He`s about the same speed as Ratchford, who is dead slow nowadays and selecting Ratch solves the goal kicking issue for now.
It`s make your mind up time for King now, most of the fans accepted him back but they will all jump on his back if he s in the nest again.

Exactly! I wouldn't want a player with his attitude here even if he was world class. The fact that Wigan fans say he was the ultimate professional whilst he was there makes it even worse. He has shown a massive lack of respect for the club that is paying his over inflated wages. I hope Middleton pays up his contract and sends him on his way.

There is no way that Middleton will give King a pay-off.

| I think we might be reading too much into a slightly odd presser with Sam. It looked to me that it was just an attempt at humour at King's expense which came across a little awkward.
Unless anyone knows differently of course.

Valid points but I wonder if Williams not playing gave Dufty more freedom? Certainly they need more game time together as the timing was just a bit off onFriday.

| On the King thing, I’m coming round to the view that SB was teasing him (and us).

That’s certainly how I read it - a little surprised at the response tbh. Players pick up injuries, Burgess saying he’ll see what King says in the week is probably more a nod to Burgess trusting his senior players to let him know if they feel fit enough to play.

Not a chance. If King is that desperate to go, then HE and he alone should fork out the money to cover the rest of his contract. Then we can get rid of him, he can go to wherever the **** he is desperate to go, and we can get someone who actually wants to play for the club.

Could be right, it was just Burgess's cryptic comment about King being like ( I'm paraphrasing here ) one of the old-school, strange type of personalities that you used to get back in the 80s and earlier. That doesn't sound like a Burgess type 'next man up' kind of guy. I've not nothing against King personally, and hopefully it's all taken out of context, but I want a 'Hayes' type personality in that back line.

| It was "he should have been a player in the 80s". I bet he didnt Wigan or Peet around.
