I have never said he shouldn't be in the team,he definitely should be.

He may well offload the most but the majority of them result in us losing possession.

If you say the majority of his offloads result in us losing possession, presumably that means 29 or more. How many is it? Presumably you've done the analysis to back up your statement. I'm sure it's not just a hunch.

Well as Neil Fairbrother tweeted tonight, that was a ballsy performance by the youngsters. We certainly looked a bit knackered from last week but a fresh pair of legs from Patton made a huge difference at the right time. I have to hold my hand up and say I was expecting a defeat by 20 or so points, so that was a very pleasant surprise. Plenty of errors from us, but hardly surprising in that heat and after the Wembley final.

I thought King had a good game, some sloppy tackling by Cats, but the best part of the break that he made (for me) was the maturity to look around and find the runner backing up (Patton). And again from the move started by Ratchford in our 20m, he took an offload from Ratchford and sent a spiralling pass out to Patton for our third try. He still wants too much time on the ball ( than he is going to be allowed) at this level, but surely he will be a real handful next year. I thought Morgan Smith ( turned 18 in April) looked promising as well with some strong tackling, although he was caught flat footed for one of their tries.

Having said all that, Les Cats were absolutely shocking in the first half and looked totally clueless attacking our line - I don't know why I was worried about some of our smaller players in defence. All in all, a good day at the office.

Agree about King and fully justifying Tony Smith's decision to include him a few weeks ago despite some doubts on here. 9 players from the Academy in the 17 surely our best for a long time.

Who are you calling Quasimodo?
Peace off! I've not got your ball.

Can't believe some of the rubbish on here!!!! All SEVENTEEN players deserve credit for that win; great composure in the last five minutes to hit back. The lads who came in did superb including Morgan Smith who didn't look out of place at hooker and Jack Johnson at full back.

I'm sure some wanted us to lose so you could have a moan!!!

Yes Walt. Only when dividing this credit between seventeen equally, some are more equal than others.

Agree with the above. Plus totally biased bile and very little reference to our previous "hard" game followed by how we then had to get on a plane for our next fixture! Unbelievable!

On Sims I think he needs to focus on running hard and hitting hard,he is a solid prop and a good leader,we should expect no more of him than that and he should leave the offloading and passing to those who are capable of doing it!'"

To be fair to Ashton, if the pass to Toby King had not been forward we had a 2 on 1 & in a great position.
Great idea just his pass went forward.

Well said WW icon_thumb.gif icon_thumb.gif

From my perspective, we won in 33c heat a week after giving our all at Wembley. We are without our regular halves and hooker plus Bennie, Rhys and Joe W. Our average age of squad last night was 22. I'd say we did pretty darn good.

Overall this season we've scored more points than anyone and conceded the least, we have lost the least number of games whilst only Hull have won as many as us. We have already appeared in one of the 2 big Finals and lost by 2 points. We're top of the League with 3 games to go, if we win against Widnes on Friday and Wigan lose then we are guaranteed a top 2 spot.

I'd say we're having a very good season.

Quote: mark_m "Surprised the attention Sims is getting when Jordan Cox has to surely be the worst prop in the league. He plays a few minutes per game and spends most of the time blowing out of his hoop.

With regard to George King he is only 21 years old and has been great value this year.

Amazed we have won that with the hookers we had, neither of the two can defend one barely and the other not at all.

On the positive side Patton and Toby King really stepped up to the plate. Hill as ever was superb.'"

Nothing wrong with Brad Dwyer's defence. Morgan Smith is really a half, too.

nail biting stuff at the end... we did very well to win that game.

Catalans reluctance to run those last 2 penaltys cost them dear.

Why they went for 2 on both occasions when they were absolutely dominating us is a mystery to me.

Massive credit to the young player who really stood up to be counted when they needed to be.

Quote: Captain Hook "THAT try! Ratchford showing real leadership. I know traditionally props aren't supposed to need a brain but a couple of ours could have starred in The Wizard of Oz...Sims as the Tin man and Bailey as his understudy. But the main thing was the team showed character.
I have no issue with most of the penalties against us, but weren't Catalan doing the same things without punishment? AND does the ref mike have to be turned up quite so much?!'"

Certainly in the whole business of holding down in the PTB. We got pinged 7 or 8 times for it and I don't think they were penalised even once.

So far Declan Patton has a 100% record with his kicking. He has not missed a goal.

Couldn't agree more. There are some peculiar views expressed on here, but any criticism in the last couple of weeks is completely off the mark.

To win in Perpignan is a huge task and to do so with that many changes and the week after the Wembley loss is a massive win. To be able to raise themselves and put the effort in as they did yesterday deserves huge praise.

We've even had people on here question the squad's fitness. We were half a metre away from winning three games on the trot in the last minute or two.

Sims offloads were on and catchable.
Bailey controlled himself pretty well I thought in the face of Pellissier clearly trying to play on his reputation for ill-discipline. Even the penalty for the late hit was harsh.

Yes, there are areas we could undoubtedly improve upon, but things aren't too shabby right now.
