Getting back to the match, if I may, I made a comment a few weeks back that we played dumb football, lacked composure and common sense, and we seemed to have learned nothing.

Kicking out on the full, charge downs, forced passes - all the things that have blighted the season and exacerbated the limited, stale or declining skills of the squad are still there. Whether it was stupidity, arrogance or a hugely mis-placed slice of over confidence the decision to decline kickable penalties is a mistake too many at the moment. Experienced professionals making those kind of mistakes repeatedly are never going to end our grand final drought.

Finally, I remain of the belief that Brough will never be the player Briers was, but I'd sell my grandmother into slavery to have just one half-back at the club with a fraction of his kicking game.
