Quote: Fantastic Mr Catpiss "I didn't think lineham was much of an issue, NOT good first game in charge for Hughes, right side did not do well(can't just blame it all on wrench) and Hughes as you say seemed to moan at the ref more than hill did, which then spread to the other player's'"

The Lineham comment I guess is more in reflection of his contract being up and his suspect decisions and discipline. 2 failed kicks through in the same match isn't the end of the world but in broken play, if it comes to him I'm not hopeful.

I'll find a touch of light in the current darkness though and say that Mulhern gave it a decent go for his first run out

Quote: Barbed Wire "Groundhog Day. The same people being tasked to dig us out of a mess. Without Daryl Clark, Hill and Cooper on the field, we might as well kick for touch and run the clock down. The bench are passengers with simple instruction to hold on until the first choice are back on.

There can be no more excuses. Open cheque book brought in Austin and Widdop, who are paid to create and control. Last year he could hide behind internationals, injuries and “waiting for a dry track” (which I particularly despise) but this year they have NOTHING to do but train together. Yet still the only attacking threat we have is a kick to King.

He can’t even fall back on this mythical defensive fortress, we were lucky to be in the game, they had a number of tries ruled out and had by far the better of the chances.

Someone needs to be honest and frank here. The coach/coaching group/playing group are not delivering what they are capable of. These are a selection of the best players in the competition, so it’s not lack of talent or capability, it’s a lack of will. What is stopping the players from delivering? The CEO must answer that question, and I would bank on it being direction from the coach.'"

I don't think your playing squad has as much quality as you think.

Best hooker in the game, one of the fastest wingers in the game......what does our coach do? Leaves them on the bench, unbelievable!!

Price out! (Along with anyone else who has been involved in "coaching" those players over the close season, stealing a living)

We were just slower than Cas at playing the ball, and didn't run the ball in hard enough. Our defensive structure was not up to scratch. Jason Clark broke their line twice which ended up in two of out tries, but why on earth didn't SP utilise Ashton when we needed to make something happen. A very frustrating performance.

Comparing with their opponents today, you would be hard pressed to pick many Cas players over the corresponding player. Evalds and Ratchford are equal, Trueman over Austin. McShane and Clark are both excellent. Aside from that I can’t see many others. So all things being equal, on paper, Warrington win comfortably. Therefore it must be performance related issues. Can’t see there being a gulf in strength or fitness, no real travel factor/home advantage, no argument over referee decisions. It must be purely performance.

Bare in mind, Cas even played without a scrum half for an hour and O’Neill only played 6 minutes. 15 men beat us convincingly

Philbin might as well have IMPACT PLAYER tattooed on his forehead and what does Price do? Completely nullify him by making him start. Philbin was woeful and ineffective...but again that buck stops with Price. Jack Hughes was pitiful today and arguing with the ref whilst letting a player run past him was unforgivable...luckily Connor Wrench ignored his 'leader' and tracked back to make the tackle. If that's the captain we're in big trouble.

I'd take Clive Anderson or even Pamela Anderson, rather than our present incumbent.

They way we played today, Pamela's got two of them. We had 17.

As Roy Keane once said ‘when Keiran Gibbs is your captain you know you’ve got problems’. Same goes for Hughes. I don’t care if he’s a good talker on the field, he’s barely good enough to be playing for us let alone captain.

Quote: Moe syslak "So it must come down to coaching then?'"

Potentially.

Coaching and/or culture I would say. Kevin Brown mentioned pre-game about there being concerns over the culture of the club. We’ve been here before, Tony Smith took the initiative and cut a problem, even if he was a superstar. If the coach had the backing of the board, and had the bottle, he would have ripped that problem out by now.

It’s either Price is the problem, or the higher leadership group is. If they undermine Price (by keeping players he doesn’t trust, signing players he doesn’t want, influencing a negative atmosphere in the club) he could be on a hiding to nothing.

While I have Fitzpatrick down to be a bit soft in the belly, and grossly inexperienced to stand up to Moran, Middleton etc. I don’t think he would bring such a negative vibe.

Therefore, yes, I think it’s the coaching. And this shouldn’t come as a surprise, he has had one head coaching role before and was utter garbage, resulting in a petition for his sacking. However the recruiters overlooked that. I just hope they get it right this time around. And soon.
