Given the same players and resources would the trophies won by each read the same as they currently do? I don't think so personally. Would cas have been better recently with wane in charge? Again I don't think so. Its hardly a fair comparison to compare head to head is it?

I don’t mind Powell. I’d be happy with either but would take Wane out of the two.

At least with Powell we’d be able to watch some great attacking rugby.

I would prefer Powell personally, but I do agree I'd be happy with either. Wane was the most likable Wigan coach of my lifetime after Millward. Powell can be a hit miserable after a loss but I am as well usually, I wouldnt really want our coach to be chirpy after a defeat but to have our players playing like Powells cas teams when fully fit, yes please.

If Wire “play the Wire way” in 2021 and end up finishing top of SL and winning the GF, like Wigan did under Maguire, to then be succeeded by assistant Shaun Wane, shouldn’t Wire offer the position Price vacates, in the same way, to Henderson?

From what we've seen that's a big IF. The key in succession planning is success.

However I agree that succession planning in any business let alone sports club is something to strive for you've only got to look at the boot room mentality at a certain association football club in the 70s for a blueprint.

It’s a good point, all fans do it. All the fans on here wanting Wane we all hated him at Wigan but will have him here in a heartbeat, and yes Powell looks as happy as turkey at a pre xmas drinks party but we would be on his side if we thought we had reason to be.

At least it'll keep the forum ticking over, regardless who we get we can always rely on a few future threads saying we should have gone for Wane/Powell /AN Other instead.

Powell took over a team that was bottom of the league in 2013 and in 4 years had them top of the table.
He didn't have the budget to bring in big name galactico signings, and they were still a selling club. During that 4 year revival Cas lost their best player three times, (Rangi Chase, Daryl Clark, Denny Solomona) and Powell still kept improving them, and playing good attacking rugby too.

You really are hard selling him, you got a bet on him for next coach

I'm gutted DP will be leaving us but some of our play the last few years has been dross. We were hugely spoiled In 2017 and never replaced Zak. I do think now we have Evalds we will have a good year if Trueman and Richardson stay fit. Powell at wire with the £ and facilities will flourish. Something he never really had at Cas as we don't have a great deal of £ and our facilities suck.

Just a thought. Some coaches can do an admirable job without funds, but when they get the millions can't handle the ego's in the dressing room. i suppose a lot will depend on what influence any new coach has on who is signed.
