| Quote: Uncle Rico "I bet you'd take it
However, serious questions, how do you do that and is it wise putting all your trophy 'eggs' into the one SL 'basket'? This year would our 17 have been any different if we sacked off the Challenge Cup and nursed our squad through to 4th to set up a grand finale? Are you saying that the injuries to Westwood, Currie and Dodds could have been avoided somehow by a softly, softly approach
In sport more often than not you don't have the choice, I would have liked our 17 to have been fresher with a bit more energy in the tank for sure, maybe next year win the LLS early then coast and it would help if the CC was moved so it didn't interfere with the 'business end of the season' rather than contenders having to duck it (no pun intended?'"
You would take it but the whole focus of the club is surely now all about getting this monkey off our back.
And if playing less games to keep our players fresher and with sufficient time to recover from injury so be it.

I have thought that in the past but personally I think he would be excellent working out of dummy half.
And therein lies the problem he can cover so many positions sometimes to his own detriment.

| I agree with mark m. I think injuries have defiantly played apart in us not winning the grand final, I know people will say the tugs had injuries which they did but the difference was there injuries came back towards the back end of the season the business end. We lost key men in Currie and sandow for the last part, even godly missed a couple near the end. I'm convinced hill picked up. An injury against saints, he wasn't the same hill Saturday as previous weeks. We had three tough games in hull Wigan saints then the final. Just proved to much for the depleted team and not having the strength in depth particular in the prop department. I think Bailey only ran with ball a hand full of times even in the first half he was blowing out of his . Without sounding arrogant of disrespectful if other teams but we should of Won the shield with weeks to spare, then we could if rested the likes of hill, Currie etc we need to focus all our efforts in yo getting the grand final, if that's means sac rising the cc for one year then so be it

Very very high risk strategy this Mark. Thank God you're not running the club ... this would not go down well with the fans.
Have you considered that this master plan might back fire.

I have not said it was a plan at any point. Read what I said. The team will play to win every game and that is how it should be. But it would be a blessing not to have to play so many games and have a fresher, fitter team for the game that really matters.

| Quote: Captain Hook "Think some perspective is needed here. We have been running with 2 front line props for most of the season, and not through choice. This has left a very lightweight pack and on Saturday it told. .'"
The pack shortage is through poor planning and squad cover and if Hill had got injured we would not have made any finals.
If Cox, Bailey or King were GF quality forwards we would not have had an issue.
We didn't lose the GF because of bad luck, bounce of the ball, referee decisions. It was because we had a very weak pack and poor go forward when we needed grunt, a decent centre with no winger outside him, a decent winger with no centre inside him and our most illusive runner stuck at fullback.

| Although at times I've called for Tony Smith to leave this year I'm undecided on what's best. On one hand we have underachieved again...(by the high standards we set ourselves) but who realistically is 'better than' Smith for the job, not just a knee jerk reaction. I can only say maybe Daryl Powell. Would he suit us? I'm not sure. Brett Hodgson maybe to work with Briers to bring some attacking flair to the club? Do we throw Morley's name in there?
One thing that is for sure is our recruitment has been poor. With the exception of Sandow, our acquisitions have brought nothing to the club. Here is where the blame should be. Wingers and centres must be a priority, and some meat in the pack. If not.....no success will be upon us in the near future.

| If we are going to start speculating about potential replacements for TS, can we start by excluding the past-players gang in any capacity please? Michael Monas and Brett Hodgson are still at chapter two in the coaching manual, and based on the performances of their respective teams this year, they need to start again and re-read chapter one.
Given that the general feeling is that we have dispensed with our entertainers tag (although the rest of the RL world seems to dispute this), we might as well just wave a cheque under Tim Sheens nose. I'm sure he'd prefer Warrington to trips to Batley and Sheffield in front of 300 people, and his CV is errm rather good.
The rugby would be dull-as-dishwater NRL style, but according to some it already is.

But, we lost Dodds and Harrison and Westwood, all beefy blokes who would have been chosen before Cox Bailey and King so which ever way you cut it they are 5th 6th and 7th choice props. How much of the salary cap could you spend on that level of back up? Not very much is the answer to that rhetorical question.
This isn't football, there is an imposed budget and therein lies the skill/luck balance. That is why people like Cox, Wheeler and Blythe are with a punt.

| We blew it in the unprofessional loss 28-35 to Wigan.
Had we won that we could have coasted at hull, played an under strength Wigan team in the semi and then most likely hull at old Trafford.
If you don't take your chances it comes back to bite you, and it did.
