i thnk that there alot of things government know, but don't tell the public for good reasons as in some cases panic sets in and cause massiv riots in the country.

the theory was that the towers fell in the way they did because it was a controlled demolition....hence the explosives.

If you like conspiracies and politics, a good book is "A Very British Coup" by Chris Mullin. It's a novel but it's well written as Chris Mullin the author was an MP and had a good knowledge of how government works. Basic plot is that its the early 1980s, a left wing Labour Prime Minister has been elected, he wants to force the American airbases out of Britain, so the CIA, MI5 and the British 'establishment' work together to make sure that the Prime Minister and his government are 'dealt with'.

It's a good book just as a story, and it was made into a three episode drama in the late 1980s which you can watch on 4ondemand (just google "A Very British Coup" and it will come up). The drama had a young Keith Allen as the Prime Minister's Press Secretary. Alastair Campbell was involved in making the drama, and its interesting to see Keith Allen basically playing the type of person Campbell would go on to be himself ten years later....

After he wrote the book (which was popular) Chris Mullin got invited to the US embassy in London where the US ambassador expressed his concerns....Mullin thought that it would be a pretty insignificant book, but as later came out, the plot of his novel touched a nerve because there had indeed been contingency plans made on both sides of the Atlantic when Thatcher was at her most unpopular in the early 1980s and they feared Michael Foot would be elected, and potentially succeeded by Tony Benn. Plans were in place it make sure it was "politically difficult" for any such Bennite regime to last....

Type in The power of nightmares on youtube and see how consecutive American governments have fooled the world.

Take note of Rumsfeld speech to the Un in 72ish and 2002ish. Just change communism for al-qaeda...

Quote: Lefty "Greenland isn't a polar ice cap. Google that and global warming. Also Antarctica isn't an ice cap. It has land and big glaciers that will melt. How did the companies manage to convince people that scientists are lying to them. Why would they?'"

The earth is 4.5 billion years old and for the last 2 million of these the earth has had periods of warmth and cold, i.e ice ages. The last one of these ended about 10000-14000 years ago. The colder periods last for around 100000 years followed by warmer periods of around 10000 years. So in effect we are due another ice age and should be coming towards the end of our warmer period, although mankind's alteration of the atmosphere through greenhouse gas pollution makes predicting the next ice age increasingly difficult. Just because we live in an age of technology doesnt mean the earths cycles stop. We as a race have managed through pollution, to slow down these changes though and the scientific evidence is simply too overwhelming to ignore.

All but the bold sentence is what my opinion on the matter is.

I'm not saying that bit is wrong, I was just always under the impression that the opposite was the case. I mean that's what we keep being told right? I'd be quite happy if that bit was correct, shows that we're not at all to blame and all this carbon footprint stuff is nonsense.

i think you misunderstood what that sentance means. To slow down the earths natural climate change is bad. We are solely responsible for this happening specially over the last 200 years. Carbon gasses are very important to the greenhouse effect we have created so by reducing these we are playing our part in correcting the mistakes of previous generations. Im certainly no scientist and could never offer a real informed view on climate change. But i do know enough to be very worried for my children and future grandchildren.
