| Cap pfffft players wives not on cap list lol
A we would be releasing Atkins penny and Evans that would free up some space for a centre n winger. T king should get a shot at centre.
I think a differance between us n Wigan is that they put their faith in the youngsters when they are still fearless and I'm sure that the faith given to them will also be a confidence booster. We seem too cautious in bringing them to the first team.
We've Johnson Smith Patton t king who should all be looking to get a good few games in this season or next maybe for Johnson, who in general when has been called on has done ok, the reward is to play in the reserves the following week.

He will deserve it if he contributes to a winning performance.
Clearly he has never done this in the past and thus has never deserved to be in a final, i suspect that the same scenario will occur tomorrow.:30555.jpg |

Where has it been mentioned that we are releasing Penny, Atkins and Evans?

Was more an idea on how we could get new centre n wing within the cap. Evans' stock is high now every tackle he makes Eddie n Steve cream of him.
I just think that we can do better than Evans and penny I wouldn't be too bothered if Atkins stays on and penny until an option for the wing becomes available.evans on the other hand if he stays we need to see a completely new player next season!!
We was unable to create somthing in both the cc n gf final and there was little spark on the edges, when the ball goes out wide just don't get excited or there no real belief that we can create somthing from nothing.
Penny has pace but no real x factor. Barring sandow we have no real box office plater to speak of that's a worry for me.

Here lies the problem with our recruitment, we have to work within the cap, and I will hazard a guess that after what we have brought in offset against what we have off loaded there is not enough for the two world class centres/wingers we need. We need to get the Leeds accountants in or in fact get players on reduced terms.'"
We save money on the cap by getting rid of the plethora of sub standard players and focus on a tighter core of quality.
With the removal of ...
Bailey
Cox
Dodds
Evans (both for me)
Penny
Ben Currie could be de-registered for his period of absence.
Laithwaite
Ormsby
Wheeler
and the addition of
Cooper
Blythe
You would like to think we have significant space on the cap.

| I feel a bit sorry for Evans. Almost every thread at the moment has people asking for him to be shipped on. OK he is not Greg Inglis but there is not many of them around.
Our right edge has completely transformed since Joel, Bridge, Briers and Westwood were creating tries for fun. That combination played a lot of games together. Westwood was a big threat attracting defenders which created a lot of space. Since curries injury we were playing with Sam Wilde and Toby King at second row and with all respect they are not the same threat as Hughes and in turn Westwood before that.
It is something that often goes unnoticed but the runs that a second rower puts in when he doesn't get the ball can be more valuable than when he does have the ball. Grix was brilliant at running lines that held up defenders to create space out wide. I just don't see that happening as much even when Hughes was on the right edge.
The combination is just not there. Gidley is the only constant on that side this year. I like Evans but I get the impression he isn't that comfortable passing to his right. Like a lot of players over the last couple of years they are competent in lots of positions but not specialist in one.
Sometimes I think we switch players into a different position by accident. As follows.
Myler played all his time in the left edge yet when Briers packed in he played in the right.
I suspect next year Ratchford will be given squad number 1 but the previous two number 1's are still at the club.
The switching and changing makes very little sense. I can't remember Briscoe Hall, charnely, Manfredi, Burgess, makinson playing at centre or Watkins, Moon, gelling, gildart, pericival playing on the wing.
It's like we have fumbled around with the threequarter selection to try and get something to work without a plan of how we want to play. It's like it has all been freestyle for the last few years.
It has been odd for a long time now and I think we are still experimenting with it.

| As long as the centres are not turnstiles in defence we will be ok with who ever puts the shirt on, but they have to have two attributes above all else and that is pace and the ability to pass the ball to release the winger. At present the two first choice centres cant do that. Atkins has pace but no pass and Evans has no pace and no pass.

You're right about King having a pass, but our second row options are just fine without messing about with Rhys Evans. I think that Toby King will be our best centre next season, Atkins is fine down the left really although he will need replacing soon as he is approaching the end of his playing career. Is Toby naturally a left centre or right? If he is left then I expect him to be the replacement for Atkins but we could do with a better right centre (Ratchford maybe).

It's strange this "Evans has no pace" bit. Is my memory playing tricks or wasn't he involved in the annual race for fastest man in Rugby League a few years back. You wouldn't usually be involved in this if you were a donkey. I think he has got pace over a distance (which of course is not as useful as pace off the mark).

I have not seen any evidence of pace either off the mark or over distance, we have faster forwards than Evans!!

| If you measure a good centre based on a combination of pace and passing ability we probably only have 3 candidates across the squad who meet requirements and one of them is Ben Currie who is of course a better second rower than centre. The other two are Toby King and Stefan Ratchford.
I’m a big fan of Kevin Penny – he brings something different and genuine excitement - but if I look at it logically I wouldn’t find a place for him or Russell in my first choice back line. I’d have Gidley at full back playing the extra pivot role. He’s good at marshalling defence and I would expect our wingers to do lots of the leg work to keep him fresh on kick returns. I’d also move Ryan Atkins out to the wing as I think he’d make a better winger than centre given his pace and strength but lack of passing ability. It would also give us a very big and strong wing pairing:
1 – Gidley
2 – Lineham
3 – Ratchford
4 – King
5 – Atkins
That would allow Patton and Sandow to develop a partnership at half back.
