He's a centre and should play there. King should move to second row if he wants to keep playing for us.

| Wrench is a back row. It’s his speed that has got him a place on the wing. He’s been far better than Charnley though, defensively and in attack, and also his lightning fast PTBs. I’m happy for him to be either winger or centre until he loses his pace.

I thought once the ball was put in the scrum the forwards can push?

| They were trying to milk a penalty holding the ball in the scrum, I've no problem with saints pushing in that case and in fact I'd say its the way all teams should deal with the cheat penalty at the scrum.

| Quote ShropshireWire="ShropshireWire"Can someone explain to me in absolute novice terms why we looked so much better last night? There was so much more application… it can’t just be that though?'"
It was a terrific performance last night, probably our best of 2022. I'm happy that we played with desire and passion for the full 80 minutes, but it shouldn't be a one off. You're correct to question how on earth we have been so poor this season, and then put in a performance that ought to have been good enough to take two points off Saints. Last night was the benchmark that needs to replicated, as many times as possible, until the seasons done. The rugby we played was great to see, but it's really annoying that it's been a rarity.
Wrench was superb and deserves his shirt. With other posters making a reference to him being a converted second row, it made me wonder if he could be the second coming of Mark Roberts.

Oh boy, where's Lefty? I hope so, especially if we can find the second coming of Andy Greg to provide the service.

| The Roby video ref decision in the 2nd half made me reflect on some of the calls we've had over recent weeks. Full speed looks like he lost the ball.
Childs gives on field "no try" and I'm not actually convinced either way by what the video ref saw, who concurred with "no try" - as had it gone up as a "try" then I don't think there was a definitive clear view of separation to not award it.
Yep, it's chip wrappings as they say, but small decisions, as we'd seen, that can turn a game.

It was the £5k per week comment - your comment sir, wasn’t raised by me. Is everyone on £5k per week then?

| Really enjoyed that last night - hopefully it's a turning point for Warrington. The league isn't strong enough for its bigger clubs like Warrington and Leeds to be playing so far away from their potential.
Wrench and Ashton looked good and Widdop seemed at home at fullback - he played very well there for England in the 2017 WC. Williams came alive a bit in the last half hour - prior to that he looked disinterested and flat footed to me. I wonder whether English players who come back from the NRL may struggle for motivation in their first year back.

| It was a very entertaining game to watch last night, although I was very distracted by Everton's glorious heroics.
You put a real shift in last night, the effort was definitely there. Mulhern was probably the pick of your players for most of the game, but there is definitely something missing in terms of your creative players. Sky were orgasming over Widdop but up until the break, other than catching the bombs well, I thought he was poor. He and Ratchford were coming up with off the cuff plays, particularly on the last tackle and both made some very poor decisions that relieved the pressure before you could really build any. Williams wasn't in the game at all until the break either. There's so much quality between those three, but they don't seem to have worked out how to get the best out of it as a creative unit. Wrench was quality and I really rate Ashton as well. Madness that you're linked with players like Olpherts and Dufty on that evidence (Although I do rate Dufty). Your ultra quick play the balls and throw it around off the cuff mentality worked at times, but it's such a high risk strategy. If you start making errors you're going to put yourselves under serious pressure and I can see why you conceded a lot of points late on in games recently.
We weren't I thought, pretty lucky to get the win. We have great resilience and always turn up and compete, but we probably made more errors last night than we usually do in two or three games combined, must have been around 15 handling errors. We've been clunky since Dodd got injured but our attack last night was way off and we looked knackered. I do wonder if we'll use the Toulouse game to let a lot of the squad have a three week break now.

| I thought the forwards stood up a bit more last night. Cooper and Mulhern were excellent. Philbin was better than he has been but didn't make a massive impact like the other two. Same with Bullock.
Widdop quite dangerous at FB and a safe pair of hands too. Holmes had his best game for us to date.
Only disappointments for me were King, Currie and Ratchford.
If you watch the game back we rode our luck a bit as Saints bombed 2/3 almost dead certs in the second half but our cover defence was great.
I just hope the effort and desire shown last night isn't just a one off and that we can see more of these moving forward. I watched the Redvee instant reaction on youtube and one of them said it was a really poor/boring game (or words to that effect). I thought the opposite. It was end to end stuff and exciting. We haven't had a thrilling game like that in ages. It was reminiscent of the Cullen days in the first fews years at the HJ.
