| Quote: lefty goldblatt "Hells Bells. I know me and you have had our disagreements on here, over the last 18 months, but this post is spot on.
I know someone (Warrington fan) who's lad was on one of the club's youth schemes, and the club decided not to take this lad up to the next level. Cue the dad to dish out the usual (and this is practically verbatim) "Oh Warrington, clueless they are, bloody clueless, don't know what they're missing out on with 'em not signing our xxxxxx. Gone to Saints now. Top drawer I tell you, top bloody drawer. You should see their gym....awesome....knocks Warrington's into the shade. Train 'em proper an all, all ball skills, nowt else"
Crikey, from what I've heard/read recently (apart from the overseas players we'll have), in 2015, we'll have a team running out at the HJ, all built like Frankenstein's monster, but with all the skills of Professor Steven Hawking.
Every club lets the odd one slip through the net...it's something we've (all) got to deal with.
We've just won the LLS
Our lower level teams did well last year
And we've got an 8 page thread about some kids not being taken on
I'd hate to be Salford...I tell you'"
Hasn't the problem with Warrington always been the number of days a week they train on at youth level? That was always the reason given a couple of years back when Saints poached their annual batch of Warrington youth.

| One of Saints "selling points" to young players is their bi-annual tour to Australia. I'm not sure if they tell them that they have to pay for it themselves though until after they've signed.

Thing is though, if we have been getting it wrong all these years, then saints teams of recent years should have been packed with Warrington born lads. Name me 5.

| Funnily enough in this whole debate about warrington only ever wanting lads to do weights, look at the lads that have come and are coming through, the forwards are big, the backs are muscly but just as they should be, none of the players that have come through apart from Taylor Welch who was a unit anyway have looked over muscled, and it makes me wonder that if all we do is weights then why aren't our lads that are coming through massive.

The U20s play-offs last season (2010) between Warrington and Saints, was a real eye-opener. Despite our U20s having a decent quantity of U18s, the physical difference between the two sides were very noticeable.

They don't have to pay for it themselves. They have to raise money for it themselves, which they all do, individually and collectively. They are all aware of the fundraising element to the trip. I believe there is going to be sponsorship for the next trip as well.
And yes, one of the selling points is our biennial tour to Australia.

So they have to raise money themselves. Do you think their families contribute (pay for) towards the trip?
I'm sure there will be people on here will tell you (from experience).
Nobody is saying it's wrong, what is in question is IF these kids are given the FULL details before signing.

Who would you describe as the quality players Saints brought through that they signed from Warrington's academy?

You may have to wait a long time for a decent reply.

No, the likes of Sculthorpe, Newlove, Long, Goulding, Martyn, Sullivan, Joynt etc were all from Pilks Recs, Hatto Heath, Bold and Blackbrook.
