I was up around the Cat and Fiddle at the weekend, bikers paradise and they have installed them there, bet that's uspet some of the bikers! Have no idea how long they've been there but should cut down on the number of fatals in that area which can only be a good thing. ![]()

They are the best cameras for restricting speed though, but to put them on roads like that is ridiculous. It is a dangerous route if driven with no respect, and bikers have a habit of cutting solid white lines, as do reckless drivers up there. But to punish drivers who like open stretches and clear sweeping bends is unfortunate, but not the end of the world. There are very few roads left in this country where you can enjoy exploring a cars limitations any more. Still, there's always track days......and wales.

No  hope not anyway lol. All new drivers have a 2 year probationary period, if you collect 6 points (two speeding offenses), then you are automatically banned and have to take an extended re-test. |

Well there were big signs at the side of the road with 50 on them for about 5 miles so I would imagine they were on. |

50 on the motorway does feel quite tedious... no sign of those roadworks ending yet either the last time I went over  |

Just to clear things up a little. If you pass your test and then get 6 points or more within the first two years of holding a full licence, you don't get a ban. You revert to being a learner driver and have to take your test again.

All this "speed doesn't kill" and "I should be able to drive as I please on quiet roads" is all a bit silly really. It's a bit like saying bullets don't kill - it's people standing in front of guns that cause death. If you have a licence for a gun and a private, safe place to shoot it, then you wouldn't wander around a country lane firing it just because you feel it's safe, would you?
Laws are there for a reason - sometimes they may seem over the top and sometimes they may seem inconsistent, but they still apply to everyone. Follow the law - no fines, no points, simple. If everyone followed the law there would most likely be less accidents too. If you do enjoy driving fast, fine, do it at a place that provides that service such as a race track.
