| Some countries have said quite openly that they are looking into vaccination passports (most likely electronic) and I think I read that there are feasibility studies going on here. That doesn’t, of course, mean that they will be introduced. It raises all sorts of issues surrounding fairness for people who have yet to have been offered a vaccine or who cannot be vaccinated due to other medical conditions. Then you have the whole question around those who choose not to be vaccinated.
At the moment there is insufficient data to say whether, or to what extent, the vaccine stops people spreading the disease. The vaccine is effective at preventing people from becoming seriously ill, and it is expected to reduce the spread, but it is too early to put figures on it. If data was to emerge to show that the vaccine dramatically reduced the spread of the disease then that would raise the pressure to issue vaccination passports as it would become very difficult to justify continuing to place restrictions on people’s lives where they were not posing a threat to themselves or others (including the NHS).
All told, a trickier problem than deciding how you accommodate both Ratchford and Ashton In the same team.

| Hopefully it won't be long until we can get a few thousand fans in, quarter full perhaps. Think needing to prove vaccination is too tricky to police and too easy to cheat.
My missus got her jab today at the HJ today (no side effects yet). Reminded me of how much I miss going to a match!

| After the jab they kept us back for about 15 minutes to make sure we felt OK.
My arm was sore Thursday night and through Friday similar to a flu jab I guess. The only difference I noticed was a bit of a headache Friday and Saturday. Nothing to bother me but I don’t normally get them, so I put it down to the jab. My sister in law had hers at the same time and had roughly the same sore arm and headache! Once you’ve had it you do feel better about things although I realise there is still some way to go.
I think there has to be a way of confirming that you’ve had both jabs by way of a passport or similar with a photo - which might have to be renewable depending on how often we will need future jabs. At the moment I just have a paper card which someone quite rightly pointed out is open to fraud. Difficult problems and decisions.

| From what I've heard, should the variants be unaffected by the current vaccinations, then they'll be dealt with in the second shot. Hope were heading in the right direction, fingers crossed.
Also, and again from what I've heard, it's the Oxford vaccine that affects some people with flu like symptoms, and a lack of energy.

| Yes I had the Pfizer vaccine and I never had any flu like symptoms so perhaps we do get different side effects with different vaccines.

I know it's not going to be popular with some but honestly it makes total sense to me.
Clearly it would tend to be an older age group who would be able to attend, but if that's what it takes to get species safely at the HJ then I'm all in favour of it.
The alternative could be Covid infections followed by yet another period of empty stadiums.'"
Older/vulnerable speccies will have spent the last year living in fear of the virus so if they are prioritised for tickets post-vaccination when the return to limited crowds comes back its fine by me.

| If they have games with vaccinated only, ie the oldies, how do you think the matchday experience will change?
Longer queues for the toilets, packets of Werthers at the kiosks. Val Doonican tribute act pre game. Speaker volume turned up a little. Stairlifts to get them to the back of the stands. Pitchside adverts tailored to suit eg wills, prepaid funeral schemes, equity release. Half time entertainment to show pictures of their Grandkids on the big screens.

I'm all for the match day announcements being made by Jack Jarvis and Victor McDade.

I don't think it's legally possible to require people to show evidence of vaccination to enter a public place. Look at the difficulties the police and staff have requiring people to mask up in supermarkets:
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/ ... permarkets
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/ ... -new-rules
That would have to be put on the statute book with a parliamentary vote, and then there are the logistics of actually checking it (an easily forged bit of paper).
Far easier, from a legal perspective, to limit attendance to a third of capacity and sell only a third of seats (with distance between spectators).

By the time the season starts in March with the current rate there should be around 20 million people already vaccinated. That's approximately 1/3 of the population. Should be at least half the capacity in the stadium then, if not more IMO.

If vaccinations continue at the current rate (supply of vaccine being the bottleneck) then we'll probably have around 17m on first does with 14 days 'kick in' period. But yes, that's around 1/3rd of the adult population (no plans at present to vaccinate the under 16s).
I'm expecting a far more gentle unlocking this time around. The Government have stated that schools will be the first back and today repeated that this is unlikely before 8th March. I would expect that the reopening of stadia is not top of the list but we should see limited numbers of fans by about May? It all depends upon whether infection rates stay low as each sector unlocks. Last time around infection rates were steady when schools and colleges went back. With no additional measures to cut transmission this could only mean that rates would rise, and they did. This time around the vaccinated pool will be growing each week to offset a staged return to normality.
We’ll only know that normality has truly returned in late September if we get dumped out of the play-offs.
