| I had one - quality game, that brings back memories. Still got a tin somewhere with loads of the stuff inside, mam's loft I think !!
Also had the soccer version - pitch nailed to a sheet of chipboard with fence suround and working floodlights
Also had the 5 a side version
A proper spoilt kid !!

| I had the football version, complete with full stadium, fence, lights and about 100 teams.
How did the rugby version work? The balls seem to have been rugby ball shaped, but the players are the same as the football version. How did you pass and progress down the field? How was tackling done and knock ons and the like?

Although the game itself was ruined by the domination of dummy-half running.

Where you describe condition as "used" could you not have added "by the dog as a chewing bone"?

I had the floodlights version and the 5 a side version too.
One of my mates had the rugby game and I think one of them had a Subbuteo cricket? (I stand to be corrected)
As for the Parry Gordon brochure, mine's in much better nick but has no autographs. And I've also got Dennis Curling's testimonial offering!

Had this games YEARS ago. Not sure of the ins and outs of the rules but I'm sure that Silverwood would make up his own. Ganson would be snookered as there wasnt a videoscreen accesory for it at the time!

| Looks like it knocks seven colours out of those terrible video games - mind you the old 1995 PC "International Rugby League" game beats the newer ones.
Its a shame that these subbuteo sets are hard to find.

| So does no one actually know how you played it? Was it just Subbuteo with a funny shaped ball and you ended up with a total mess on the field?

Played it a few years ago, with a friend who'd 'inhereted' a Subbutteo World of Sport boxed set (i.e. the big collection that included football, cricket & rugby).
IIRC the rugby involved a maximum number of foward 'dribbles' before another man had to touch it, and the rugby ball didn't roll too well either. Scrum machine was disappointing too (also the cricket was nowhere near as good as Test Match).
IMHO it's not really worth paying out for now as it's a curiosity rather than a great game.
