| As Gary says you need to have an idea about the game technically to ask that kind of question.
Maybe try this and see what response it gets.
When coaching defensive structure do you think it is better to cover different percentages of the pitches width depending whether you are in your red or green zone or would you just use a rigid structure whereby the players are evenly spread no matter where they are on the pitch. Also do you use different defensive structures dependent on your oppositions strengths and weaknesses?
May get an interesting response or he could just laugh at you.

I have noticed a steady change in recent years where coaches will not disclose who is playing where, how badly injured a player is, what they have said to players, what changes they are implementing e.t.c
The facts are anyone can beat anyone these days, so they are trying to keep their cards close to their chest.
I'd also need to have a technicla brain to ask technical questions - and that is asking far too much!
In other words I am going to keep it the same

You don't need to ask that just watch the game and the answer is clear. Warrington very rarely play a compressed sliding defence and I doubt you would change the structure becasue that would create uncertainty and indecision.

words can't decribe how someone who has such knowledge of the club can make a comment like that. are you trying to be funny?

I understand now why you would want to know more.

No worries Panties? am I right.
Well Smith did say he had abit of interest from other club s. Fully deserves the contract though, hopefully put his injuries behind him now. Provides good utility. Glad to here that Pickersgill wasn't entirely out of the team for performance reasons, hopefully he will get a few games under his belt and come back a more confident player. Likewise for Penny, It'l be at least another year or 18mnths before we see the best of Penny i believe.

| Penny does need experience. I dont understand these "Penny" knockers one bit. Saying he will never make it etc but if he doesnt, so what? However, if he can work on his defence so its up to SL standard he will be a great winger. Only time will tell, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

There's nothing wrong with his defence.

Well, you must watch something different to me then. When I watched him on Easter Monday at home to Castleford he did nothing wrong, tackled strongly and looked very inch at home in SL. As he did when he put Ryan Hudson on his backside at home to Huddersfield late on last season. I actually think his defence improved enormously over the past couple of years.
If there's a weakness in Kevs game it's probably his returning of the football for me, there seems to be so much emphasis now on your backs getting you on the front foot with the first couple of returns, before the forwards try & punch a hole and Kev will always get dominated in this.

Maybe i judge him on more than one game. We all want him to do well as he is a talented attacker but you can't let that gloss over his weakness. If he was good enough his current and his former coach would be playing him. Even in a patched up backline last week players were played out of position rather than select him. In tony we trust?

Well, honestly ? I think he's more likely not to feature on the basis that he struggles with the work out of acting half than he is for this percieved weakness in defence. You do feel there's a weakness with regards to ball security and him being 'dominated' in the collision and that stuff. I think the modern winger needs to be able to do his stint from acting half, taking the heat of the forwards etc, that's why PJ etc make a decent fist of it from the wing, I think it's this that Smith feels he lacks.
Alot of Smiths comments talk about energy on kick returns etc. He gave Bridge a big rap last week at Hull, lots of folk thought he was poor, but Smith concentrated on his kick returns, and said he was the 'strongest carrier etc', I think Smith is big on this.
