Apparently this season is treading water and blooding the academy lads, aiming to go for the GF next season.
Jeez, always next year, literally. Isn't Sam leaving at the end of this season? Even if that's true about this season, why should we pay every week to watch a work in progress? That's like admitting defeat before the season even starts. Ugh.

| No he extended his contract 3 seasons. Saying 2 isn’t enough.
There’s a red flag if you read into it.

| I'm not surr why Max Wood hasn't played or been in the reckoning yet. He's shown since we signed him he wants to put the work in, gives his all, has decent impact, skillful hands and puts 60-80 min stints in. I'm not privy to what goes on behind the scenes, but i don't get what's happening and some of the choices being made. I'm glad Musgrove has finally been dropped, glad Lindop is getting a chance etc but it just seems like Burgess has lost his way abit. Only 4 games in to the season though with 2 wins, so might just be overreacting but hopefully we click in to gear soon. But the low on confidence comment i find bizzarre after 4 games.

| We've been hearing about shoddy signings & missed opportunities for donkeys years with the Wire. During all that time you would expect the club would have set up a viable scouting procedure to avoid players with issues & players who are panic bought just to fill gaps.

Could they not wait 20 minutes and suffer with the rest of us?

Indeed the Director of Rugby role was meant to address this.

| The state of our overseas recruitment is embarrassing; Zane Musgrove sat in the stands because he is garbage, Dan Russell hauled off because he's a pudding, Rodrick Tai sent to Widnes because he's unit and Lachlan Fitzgibbon is fast becoming a liability with injuries.
How hard is it to spot a good player? Other teams do it every year - apart from us.

| It backs up what I said earlier about someone well connected at the club saying (not to me) this season is about treading the water because we’ve young lads coming through and a fair few big contracts ending this season.
Wire hands were pretty much tied with the cap and that shown in the lack of quality recruitment this season.
I’m guessing we’ll see a big difference in 2026 recruitment this spring. Sam hadn’t had his team, in 2026 he will. So no excuses then.

Treading water to me means staying broadly the same. We have regressed on this initial showing.

| We shafted some dead wood players and only really lost one quality player in Nicholson and partly Bateman..
Still you’d may have thought that would been enough change to bring in at least one decent player. .
I can only assume that little amount of cap was soaked away by improving contracts to the academy step ups. .
The key was Vaughan, Wire hands bound because Vaughan (according to Fitzy) wasn’t in contact with the club and he’d heard (known the facts) about him looking for a deal in Aus. .
With Vaughan’s money, we could have bought big.
