Yes. They actually placed him back down on the floor.

I emplore anybody to watch that incident again in slow mo. I spotted it straight away. The man is a cunning little runt. Struts around with his hunchback as though he was born on a coat hanger trying to make himself look big. I don't think he ever exhales. Tries to look like Mr Universe to hide the fact he is Mr Punyverse. Odious little turd he is.'"
You are clearly hallucinating. It's a clear lift above the horizontal. Nothing malicious but a dead set penalty all day every day.
Your letting your pretty jealousy get in the way of common sense.

I was actually watching the game with a Saints fan he called both the forward pass and Welsby “helping” the tackle go above horizontal. It hadn’t occurred to me.

I'm not sure that was a Saints fan, can't have been!
I called the welsby leg throw immediately, thaler fell for it big time.

He went in to tackle and Crowther was tackled into him and gently smeared down his front. About as impactful as a cuddle from a drunken auntie and absolutely no force put into it by Walmsley. It was farcical that it was even given as a penalty and I'm sure it wouldn't had Crowther not stayed down and milked it for all it's worth.
I'm delighted because they missed the worst tackle of the game completely and it wasn't even cited
The entertainment value is there anyway.

I'm sure a lot of people did. In fact, I'm sure Thaler did. But what was Drinkwater doing? Lifting his legs gave him the opportunity to do that when he was already wrapped in the tackle and going nowhere. Just dumb from Drinkwater.

It was obvious. You only need to look where Drinkwater's hand finishes lifting in relation to where Welsby's leg ends up. Welsby has previous form for this so no real surprise. I think the disciplinary made a statement by not deeming it an issue but I wish they'd go further and actually sanction players who indulge in this sort of cheating. Play acting to gain penalties is a blight on the game and needs stamping out.

Totally agree with you, it was stupid, but personally I feel that the playacting needs to be stamped out.
I said at the time it was clever from welsby, but these dark arts type things really don't help the sport IMO. The game needs cleaning up, especially around the ruck but also the little bit of gamesmanship creeping in.

The gamesmanship is now entrenched in our sport. Feigning injury, appealing for penalties every play the ball, holding ball in the scrum to get an offside decision. Boring.

| While the MRP is forensically dissecting the game there is no reason why forward passes can't also be examined by the video ref then many petty ambiguities over results will be eliminated & Saints ,Wire ,Wigan & Leeds fans can learn to love each other. Peace man !

Wasn't their talk of a forward pass detector in the ball? https://edition.cnn.com/2022/04/27/spor ... index.html
With today's digital image processing power it is perfectly possible to detect, after the event, if the ball went forward with reference to the player at the point of passing.

I'm not sure (about much admittedly these days) but wasn't there always an argument/issue about momentum, the point of release and relative forward travel from the passer moving forward whilst passing

Yes the forward velocity of the player just at the point of passing can be compared with the forward velocity of the ball just following release. If the latter is greater than the former it's a forward pass.
Example. Player running at 25km/h forward velocity passes ball, ball is measured to have 25km/h forward velocity then it's a flat pass. > 25km/h it's a forward pass. No reference to the pitch, just the velocity of the player and ball is compared.

How much ball tampering would be needed at the St Helens 49ers
