How odd your obviously a man u fan but have quoted a bit of thou shall do as we say rubbish from "Reclaim the kop".
I imagine you can’t stand the "you’re not singing any more...?" beauty?
And Soccer AM I bet that’s banned in your household in case a popular chant might be copied ??
I suppose we should all be roused by singing songs of legendary players from decades ago or even better the dear departed....
If I wanted to sing songs like that I’d go to Church, but I don’t, I want some fun, I want banter with the opposition fans and I want to ridicule them at times, some times get this I flick the v’s at them I should be ashamed but I’m not,
and even tom hark has still lost NONE of its appeal I currently have it as my ringtone some 10 years (rough guess) after it was first heard at Wilderspool.
Its great I’m 43 and occasionally I’ll get swept along doing the arm movements to it….its called having fun
Anyway back to funny chants a popular one in the 80’s was to sing (well do “did did de did”) the theme tune to Laurel and hardy when ever a Bobby o(or anyone different looking) walked past the Fletch… it was uncomfortable for whoever it was directed at as they could never look into the crowd or respond. Like the bloke at Thrum hall (a large person possibly the grounds man) who responded I think with a finger gesture and then got the You fat so an so, out of order but funny,
See it doesn’t have to be an Andrew Lloyd Webber piece….. a simple but effect laurel and hardy tune

I don't recall Des Drummond failing a drug test while a professional RL player?

Bloody hell mate, easy tiger!
You'd be right mon ami, I am of the United persuasion. And you may be suprised to ehar I am taking on board what you say. I don't particularly see it as 'do as we say' et al. I just find the overriding majority of songs/chants on the terraces of rl, highly cringeworthy. And I am not alone, there are a handful of others, particularly on this forum who are singing (see what I did there ) from the same hymn sheet. This, I imagine comes from following United (and FC as often as poss) home & away. But because myself and others, attend the soccer, we see things from a slightly different, I'd say clued up perspective.
I mean, a barmy army, what the chuffing heck is that supposed to be? Sounds awful. If a set of fans (this goes for the sport asa whole) can't generate an atmosphere in a crowd of people, without the aid of a percussion instrument or a trumpet etc, then I find it quite embarrassing. Anyhow matey, roll on next year, for more of the same generic garbage.
whoooooo arrrrrrrrrrrrr yaaaaaaaaa

You're bang on the money there pal. Sky Tv and the likes of soccer am are killing the little of what is left of terrace culture. Generic songs for generic fans sat in generic stadiums. Standing when they're told, sitting when they're told. Clapping and cheering when they are told. The only teams in football and RL that I see are trying to generate their own unique atmosphere is United (away especially Carling cup) and FC united.
Clubs (and towns and cities) use to have their own unique identities. This has been slowly erased over time to the point where you can now go to virtually any town/city centre and they are almost identical. From the shops to the fashions to the pubs to the music.
One thing to mention though, Tom Hark has always been sung at Warrington and United in the days I have been going.
The wigan/scousers are here
We don't know why
Coz after the match
They're gonna die

| He didn't he admitted after retirement to taking recreational drugs throughout his career - I used his name as the only Wire player I could recall at the time to have been tainted with drugs, although I do recall Dave Highton I think being binned out of the club after failing a drug test.
So why the comment about Des Drummond in my avatar?

| Maybe i'm just being sentimental, but the chants at wilderspool were a million times better than the ones sung nowadays at the hj. Why does nobody do the 'give us a W' chant anymore? Used to love that especially putting on my deepest voice when it came to 'E'. Also, when a brawl started on the field you always got a massive chant of 'wires aggro, wires aggro, whoa whoa'.

Didn't Richie Barnett fail one as well? He took the test whilst he was with us, got shipped off to Salford mid season and then got the results back whilst there.

You should make an 'Old Wire Chants' facebook group. Spread your wisdom to the kids.

Ha, yes. Common sense at last!
I detest Liverpool, and a lot of what they stand for, but have to ask yerself, what is more impressive, X amount of Koppites at an away game belting out 'poor scouser tommy' for example, or the cool kats in the barmeh armeh singing some generic 'Soccer AM type' song? Sporting their replica's over their Henleys Hooded tops?
