| If he had had ping pong bats the impression of a ground controller directing a plane into a bay would have been complete.
As for the Yarkshire fan above, it may not have been the prettiest game ever but the intensity was at 11. Not taking anything for granted but that level of pressure can only stand us in good stead.

Wigan have been there regularly and Cas will be aching to make amends for last year. Hope it is Cas so there's a new name on it either way but will be wanting a Yorkshire victory. Just hope it's a decent game.'"
In breaking news if we win it will be new name on it. “It’s always our year...”

Warrington won the game I watched which is all that matters to me, and I can live with you having a differing definition of "excellent".

| We were never going to lose that. You could tell during the warm up, it was all hands to the pump, we had all 19 players dressed and warming up, we had all the coaches out running the players and a lot of non selected players were out there working them. You could just feel it.

If that's all it takes, can we do the same next week please?!

Respect to you JM for posting after a game that must have hurt after the season that Saints have had, and taking the defeat with dignity.
I was talking to a Wigan supporting colleague who said on Thursday morning the Barba had mentally checked out at Saints, and wouldn't be a threat. I think he may well be right in some respect, but I also think that Wire dealt with Saints attack with a dogged attitude to defending, making every tackle count.

| To limit Saints to 1 fortuitous try on their home patch when it counts was outstanding.

As a Yorkshireman I thought it was a fantastic game. It was not until afterwards did I think about the quality on show. I'll take games of that intensity over free-flowing 10 try scoreathons any day.

| Me too from another Yorkie.
Not sure what people were wanting tbh.
Nip and tuck with a fair bit of aggression and some nice try`s scored.
What more do you want from a semi final?
Impressed with Hughes, Cooper, Goodwin and Lineham but thought Ratchford had his worse game of the season from the games I`ve seen him play.

| From a Cas fan.
Congratulations Warrington!!!!
Maybe not a 100% all round performance but your defence and commitment were 120%. Best team by a mile and would have been a travesty if you had not won.
Regardless of tonight's result, I wish you luck in the final. If we cannot win it I hope you do.
BTW I too thought it a great match to watch.

re barba, its not that he'd checked out, it was the same as the last time we were there, we were very very good at closing down the space that lomax created for him outwide, jon wells got it bob on at half time at how well toby king was holding position for that barba dash around the back. Match that with how richardson and all his fellow defenders got pulled in.

| Agree that we closed saints down with our spot on defence. Whether Barba is/isn't as sharp as he was earlier on in the season matters not. He didn't create anything, and he wasn't allowed to.
As for defending, he looked like he didn't want to know. That's not taking anything away from Lineham who showed great determination and belief that he was getting that ball over the line on both occasions.

| I have been miffed on a few occasions this season with the obsession with wingers diving as high as they can to avoid the defender while putting the ball down an inch from the dead ball line. This avoids getting knees in the back which was always the risk of the traditional slide over the try line. Minkin had 2 tries chalked off in one game when he was bundled into touch following a spectacular dive. The one exception to this has been Charnley who is almost unstoppable when he slides in from 5 yards. It looks like Lineham has learned from him.
