It should be Sir Phil Taylor. Has anyone dominated their sport for as long as he has (and yes I said sport)?

Quote: the flying biscuit "Rob

Why do you Blame Hamilton for getting into the position he was in...? the team had to bring him in for the change of Tyres once the rain came down...'"

Si, Hamilton has stated himself how much he enjoys driving in the wet and the trickier conditions the better, that was similar to Schumacher. In this race Hamilton just had to finish 5th to claim the world title and he was one corner away from blowing it for the 2nd year running. For someone who likes the tricky conditions so much he and his team made a right horlicks of the race as it should never have got to the stage where he was one corner away from losing the world title, he should have been in a much stronger position throughout the race given the car he drives which is also far more suited to the wet than the Ferrari.

Would Schumacher have have been in that same position with just 1 corner to go ? Hamilton and his team were within a whisker of blowing the world title and it should never have got anywhere near to that point. Yes a team brings a driver in for tyre changes etc but its the driver who makes the call as to when over the radio ( not on about the late forced changes ) as he has the best knowledge of how the track is, its the driver as well who has the final say on how he drives the race as once he leaves the starting grid its in his own hands and most drivers ignore a lot of what comes over the radio just like McRae did with Dave Richards on a few occasions at Subaru.

Quote: the flying biscuit "What are your thoughts on Seb Loebs record breaking fifth title in the Rally..?'"

As for Seb Loeb, he is in a league of his own as he is the best driver since Makinen. Also the Citroen is in a league of its own, the reason Subaru are struggling at the min is they have built the new car towards the new regulations that are coming out soon where as Ford and Citroen are running their cars under the current, more lenient regs.

Personally i prefer the days where events like the Network Q RAC rally were 5 day events and run partly through the night, this current version of rallying is just a 3 day sprint aimed at tv and getting spectators into a tighter area where they may travel to more than one stage and spend more money etc.

I dissagree. That would have meant risking over-taking people which could have landed him in bother especially since one of those drivers he needed to over-take was t'other Ferrari driver. "whoops, Ive accidentally run you off the road Lewis...silly me"

You mean like when Hamilton overtook down the start finish straight and almost came to blows with another car under braking when he had no need to take that risk at all in rain spray conditions, i take it you don`t watch F1 very often because if you did you would know that Raikonen is one of the worse drivers in F1 in the wet.

Do you remember Silverstone ? Thats where neither Ferrari could handle the wert conditions, that ended up with Raikonen doing more pirouttes than Torvill and Dean and then sliding off the track and smashing his car into a wall. Raikonen has been driving poor for most of 2008 and in the wet the McLaren is the far better car, Hamilton should have been able to get in front of Raikonen without much risk and it would have been game over for Massa then as Raikonen would never have been able to get back past him.

At the end of the day McLaren and Hamilton got away with it by the skin of their teeth, they were far too conservative and under your theory of not over taking people which your saying could have got him in bother he could have been taken off the other way by being overtaken himself as its quite easy in those rain sprayed conditions to not see another car coming especially under braking at a corner where a lot of overtaking is done, apparently Glock didn`t even know Hamilton was there at the end.

Its been pointed out that Lewis Hamilton lost points because of the stewards this season, what people seem to have forgotten is that Massa lost 20 pts this season through no fault of his own, his pit crew let him down where he was given the green light to continue when he still had the fuel hose attached in Singapore whilst he was comfortably leading the race and set for the win, in Budapest his engine blew with just 7 miles to go whilst in the lead and dominating that race.

I wanted a british world champion especially when it meant that ferrari wouldn`t win that title but you have to luck at the whole picture of the season along with the last race and in my opinion Hamilton was a lucky winner as him and mcLaren almost made a right horlicks of it and then you have Massa virtually having 20 points taken away from him through no fault of his own.

his father is extremely wealthy,he was supplied with the best go-karts when he started racing as a small child, his course to becoming an f1 driver has been mapped out and bankrolled by his father since those days.
he has become a tax exile, therefore puts nothing back into britain,he is a totally arrogant, spoilt young man.
he gets paid an enormous amount of money for driving, something any man can claim to be brilliant at regardless of what you drive.
he's tupping one of the pussycat dolls as well.
i hate him.

So typical of British people to knock a winner isn't it. Pathetic.

His dad is extremely wealthy are you having a laugh, the Hamilton’s were not wealthy at all, the only way to fund the carting was for Anthony Hamilton to do 3 jobs as he was a single parent as well so stop talking crap, you know nothing about them so why lie?

Who has knocked Hamilton ? Some people like myself have pointed out he was a fortunate winner and that McLaren and himself were within just one corner of losing the world title when it should never have got to that point.

You even admitted yourself he was lucky in a previous post, he was and thats the overall point, it shouldn`t have come down to luck.

Quote: mark_m "Luckiest win ever but he deserved some after that shambles when he had those winning 12 points taken from him earlier in the season. '"

So what about the shambles where Massa`s pit crew let him down and gave him the green light to leave the pits with a fuel hose still attached to his car in Singapore whilst leading the race and firmly in control, also Massa`s engine blowing up just 7 mile from the end of the race in Budapest whilst in the lead and firnly in control. Thats 20 pts Massa lost through no fault of his own.

i know he was brought up in stevenage and is now a tax exile in geneva,a move his father stated was purely financial.
formula one is not my bag but hamilton has done well as he may not of had the public schooling of james hunt or damon hill but he has had all the opportunites given to HIM on a plate.
please try to see some of the irony in my post,i wasn't lying i do hate him,
millions in wages for driving a car
tupping a pussycat doll
can you see it yet...........

So what if nerves did get to him a tad and he did very nearly botch it up, i'm not sure it's such a crime. He must have felt like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. Yesterdays changing weather conditions were very testing, obviously for driving but i'm sure the mental strain he was under, he simply must have been doing what he believed was right and it nearly cost him, the early pit stop a lap too late putting him behind the eight ball from the early stages onwards. I reckon on another day, with less riding on it Lewis would have been bolder and come up two laps earlier and been one of the aggresors in changing tyres and taking the race by the scruff of the neck.

It must be tremendously difficult fighting your instincts as Hamilton seems to be forging a reputation for being 'over aggresive'.

Anyhow, History won't show how he won it, it'll just show Lewis Hamilton, youngest formula one worls champion in history.

Good on him.

You did. When you said he 'deserved nothing'. That's about as damning an indictment as you can get on a man's achievements.

Thats not knocking him, thats an opinion that i felt he deserved nothing this year given what resources were at his disposal. Knocking him would be doing similar to what some posters do on here when they talk about the likes of Kevin Penny being crap *not my opinion*, ive done nothing more than say that Lewis Hamilton deserved nothing this year given the events that folded out over the season and on sunday and backed it up with reasoning which is what debate is supposed to be about.

Knocking him would be getting personal and calling him all sorts under the sun and you will find its something i havn`t done, anyway thats my last on this as it doesn`t need anymore saying as my opinion has already been given.
