| Just to say, as a fan of the nba, and their complicated management structures, it does baffle me that in some organisations you've got
Ceo
President of basketball operations
General manager(assistant gm)
Scouting
And then you get down to coaches. Who seem to have not as much say in players as you'd think, granted it varies from team to team but theres teams where coaches get brought in to play a certain style, and management just expect them to make chicken salad out of chicken , or will trade players quite willy nilly. They end up having pretty public disputes. The tony Smith thing at kr would barely raise an eyebrow.
Different cultures though, I suppose

| Quote: Wires71 "So you think he has no input into selection but just performs the contractual execution?
Is it the coach who decides who we sign - 100%?
What if the coach wants to sign a player that has courted controversy in the past - maybe assault or drug use, which would reflect poorly on the organisation's image - does the player still get signed?
What if the club know they are not extending the coach beyond the current season and the coach wants to sign a player to fit their playing style - what then?
Genuine questions, not disagreeing.
Still think we need a director of RL who can take a longer term view and joins up all things on the performance side.'"
He may get a say but I don’t for one minute think he and he alone decides who we sign which seems to be what the diehard KF detractors seem to think.

I wonder how Dean felt? Publicly blamed then dropped.

I agree with you. He will have input and can probably veto. I would expect other board members to have the same powers.
However, I cannot imagine the idea of signing Greg Inglis or Luther Burrell originated with Price.

| 20 mins probs are fine if they make a consistent sustained impact across that period. We have loads of long mins relatively low impact props so I’d welcome that sort of player.

True, that's a downside. Upside is continuity, wider perspective, focus.
I think the only thing we can say with reasonable certainty is that our recruitment process over the last 6 years or so has had mixed results. I am careful with my words as I don't want another telling off from Smiffy and we have signed the odd good player

Absolutely, I don’t believe for one second Fitzpatrick (or Draper / Gatcliffe) has signed someone without an ok from the coach, and similarly the coach wont have carte blanche to sign who he wants. KF has the overall say of course - the coach reports in to him ultimately and he has the club reputation and salary cap restraints to consider, but I’m sure Powell picks the names.
I’ve heard talk of a Director of Rugby position, but I don’t think you would attract a coach of any standing with someone else above them like that - it just doesn’t happen in RL.
I think the Johns signing came from Moran, but I’m sure Cullen would have had a say (not that you would ever say no!). Same for the likes of Burrell, he was a risk that had no impact on the salary cap, so why would Price have disagreed?

You obviously think you do know. So please show me anything approaching proof that KF as CEO is the sole or even main arbiter as to who is signed to play for the club.
I’m pretty sure that each organisation expects different things from its CEO rather than have a 1 size fits all approach, again if you can show me something to the contrary I would be extremely interested.

Which board members would they be?
Of Warrington Sports Holdings
Of Warrington Football Club
Of SJM Holding NW (person with significant control)
Maybe we’d be better off playing the board members

| Interesting that Middleton and Moran never seem to come under fire. Their wealth has been very much appreciated but their decision-making in the last few years must come into question.
If KF is such a bad CEO, surely two successful businessmen should have identified that a long time ago?
I'm not defending KF there, more making a point that there are probably several people who should take their share of the blame.

The board of the entity that is party to the recruitment contracts.
There would be no stopping Broomhead from 10 yards out that's for sure. Just put a photo opportunity behind the try line and give him the ball.

Well, similar time line it could be argued that things have gone wonky since Middleton became chairman and a lot more involved....soooo...
