| Bongser wishes he didn't too, FMC!
For Boss H; at Leigh, Drinkwater "played" behind one of the biggest packs in SL that season (2017) and much good did it do his employers.

Surely, if Wire pay a transfer fee to Catalan for Drinkwater, it is then up to Catalan how they spend that money and Warrington would not have contravened the Salary Cap?

I think the point is that, however the money is paid and by whom, whatever the player gets goes against the salary cap of the club for whom he is playing.

Yes, I was referring to Warrington`s Salary Cap, who would not be paying the severance pay to Drinkwater.

It used to be, where the income comes from, so transfer fees can't be chucked in the revenue pot for where your salary cap money comes from.
They made this very clear when we paid 400 grand or whatever for gleeson, saints had a brick of money but couldn't add it into the wages pot.
As I say, it may have changed now.

Any chance you can enlighten us since the most recent posts suggest not.

| Typical lastminute.com stuff from Wire....what a joke, held to ransom (seemingly) by a player who looks like he really doesn't want to be here.
Forgive me if I don't get excited.....

Kasiano, Dudson, Mikaele announced May
Vaughan announced June
Dufty & McGuire announced July
Nicholson announced June
They deserve criticism for a lot, but they did a lot of business very early this year.
Half back a problem as Powell has clearly changed his mind on Ratchford and Wardle (signed in June) didn’t work.

So 4 in and 9 (nine) out and end of season. Surely we have cap space to tempt a quality centre and halfback?
In:
Sam Kasiano,
Gil Dudson (both Catalans Dragons),
Josh McGuire (St George Illawarra Dragons),
Paul Vaughan (Canterbury Bulldogs).
Out:
Oliver Holmes,
Jack Hughes,
Rob Mulhern,
Matt Davis,
Jacob Gannon (all Leigh Leopards),
Gareth Widdop (Castleford Tigers),
Jason Clark (Limoux Grizzlies),
Toby King (Wigan Warriors, loan),
Ellis Longstaff (Salford Red Devils, loan).

Factually correct but slightly misleading, in the clubs defence. Dufty and Nicholson were onboarded mid-season and stand to be starting players. Davis, Hughes, Longstaff, Gannon and Widdop barely featured from magic onwards.
So Holmes, Clark, King(Wardle) and Mulhearn for the four above. Which is a landslide in quality, experience and sheer size in favour of the incoming. The only criticism really is the lack of creativity in the shape of a 7 or a centre.

| He has definitely signed. It’s just the work permit and kit photo needed before announcing, that’ll be before the week is out.
