No he wasn't, penny was absolutely shocking in defence. As someone said earlier Ashtons biggest problem is trying to hard. Can't really say its a negative especially atm. It's nice to see someone that wants to win.

2nd half very dissapointing. But that first half was excellent.
They upped their levels in the second half but the game changed on that ridiculous ref call against Matty Ashtons catch stolen by French. We made many pivotal individual errors too which didn't help. For Kai Pearce to release that ball was Nicholsons fault (he's young and learning though). Then it was a lesson in targeting our other younger players.
Wigan were missing a few, but they're back line is absolutely lethal - the best in sl by a mile - against our young inexperienced players.
There's some encouraging things there we can take with us against lesser teams than Wigan.

I do want to defend Ashton for the play the ball to no one.
2 points.
1. There was no one with him to protect him and for him to pass too or playbthe ball too. The team were 30 metres behind.
2. He had to play the ball. If he didn't. It would be a penalty anyway for delaying the play the ball. So he is in a no win position for that play.

I'd rather not.
Channel 5 are showing Steptoe and Son Ride Again (the one with the greyhound). I'm at a loss to which one will be funnier

He should have looked round and fell on the floor gripping his calf.

True but he could have realised that and took his time getting to his feet perhaps? Composure.

So a sin bin for simulation and professional foul for delaying the game.

The thing is. He already delayed getting up to play the ball as it is.

Our problem is, like the Saints and Catalan games, the players actually got up for this game and put in a half decent show. However, we never seem to be able to get up for consecutive games and that's what is now desperately needed.
You are right though, that poor call on the high kick which French knocked on was a major turning point and Wigan were just ultimately too good and better than us, but the effort can't be faulted tonight, we were just done by a better team.

The overall attacking structure was miles better than under Price, with a much more experienced squad. A few better executions and it would be different game.
Do you know what, with all this moaning, I'm loving it now that Powell isn't going anywhere. I'm absolutely loving it. One of the problems with modern society
Don't do drugs, kids.
Our attacking structure?????? Put the crackpipe down.
You're spot on mentioning modern society, though. But you've got it the wrong we round......... HURTLING TO THE BOTTOM

| Wtaf. Seriously.
He is absolutely delusional. He was happy with that performance.
He is making excuses.
Oh.
He's just said we are talking rubbish.
Edit. That was the Powell interview.

As for the comment about the attacking structures, frankly its laughable. We [idon't have[/i any attacking structures'"
Nearly as laughable as the amount of stuff you make up on here maybe?
Should have had 3 in that first half: the ball was moving much better and it was an even game with us at least matching Wigan on their own patch.
You're probably unaware, but young players take time to bed in and learn from mistakes. Welsby etc, they've made mistakes and learned from them. We've got 3 young inexperienced back 3 players who look exciting and will be worth the investment. They need to make their mistakes to improve.
Anyway, Powell ain't going anywhere, so chew it.
