I’ve said before on here, but the longer Powell stays, the more Price’s credit grows. Didn’t concede 30 points once in super league last year, think it was the tenth time this year, in 21 games.

We can call Price all we want, but whatever he did defensively worked. And on the contrary, Powell’s Warrington is colander-esque

Future Wire historians will be confused about why a guy with a very favourable W/L record, a very decent head to head against the top teams and a Challenge Cup on the ledger was hounded out quite so brusquely.

This is an AA meeting "My name is mozza and I'm a Harveys addict" moment. Our attack was better under Price as well.

Oh dear god, I feel so dirty just saying it

Future Wire historians will be perplexed as to how a heavily courted coach took a team regularly contesting finals to be relegated for the first time in their history in just one season.

He’s not been sacked yet which says to me that it’ll all rest on the Toulouse game and he won’t be go anywhere unless we lose that one.

This, frankly, makes me very nervous.

If we wait till then whoever takes over is going to have to turn things around [iinstantly[/i,no time, no luxury of a settling in period.

If we act now we have a little time - most people accept rhe Wigan game is a right off, so we have time to prep for what is looking like the most important game in the SL era.

Quote: wire2004 "The Knives are going to be out at the Toulouse Match.

Knowing our fans. There will be a few people in the North and East Stand who will cheer and clap for anything. But the VAST majority of people will be out for blood. I guarantee that we will here "we want Powell out" chants and "Tony Smiths Barmy army"

I was at the Cas Match in 2008 when the crowds knives were out. If I remember rightly. Sit in protest. The crowd chanting "Cullen out" and "Classy Cas". And It wasn't much better when they finally got them out. Cas Were cheered by the crowd at the front door and the 1st team barricaded themselves in the stadium and not wanting to come out.'"

It's when I see posts like this that I actually think our 'fans' deserve to see the side relegated.

I mean, this guy is basically encouraging & supporting people to turn up and get on the player's backs. Then, when they inevitably get beat after putting up a display riddled with nerves and mistakes, this fella will rock up on questioning why the team performed in such a poor way.

I know many fans are worried and just a tad hacked off with the poor level of our performances, but it's about time some of us realised that continually slating the team can't be helping anyone - the team is obviously mentally fragile. Having their supposed fans on their backs from the off (as this pi!!ock is suggesting) can only end one way.

Sadly, I think many on here are now almost willing the side to lose now, purely so they can say 'I told you so' and gain some sort of kudos on here. Just look how this thread unfolded. Not a dicky bird when they were in front. Soon as they went behind, the mob were soon on here.

So basically, my message is - SUPPORT THE FUCK!NG TEAM - they are supposed to be the team you support, not some excuse for trying to look a smart @rse on the internet. If you are going to stand on the terraces just to mouth off like this Wire2004 character, then I'd suggest you stay away and sit at home, because it's definitely more beneficial to everyone.

The Challenge Cup win means Price will be remembered more fondly than he was at the time and I fully expect nostalgia to start kicking in (if it hasn't already) and his era will be regarded as successful. The reality is we had about a season and a bit of moving in the right direction and the best part of three seasons slowly rolling backwards. Even by the time of the Challenge Cup win, the shine had come off, we just pulled off an incredible one-off performance, the best big game performance of my lifetime as a Wire fan, at Wembley.

The biggest problem of the Price era is it felt like once teams had worked us out part way through his second season, that was it. There was no innovation to try and re-invent ourselves. We just stayed where we were. Blake Austin was a barometer for the whole Price era.

Historians will probably look at how his last 3 seasons ended brusquely. He was great if you wanted "there or there abouts".

I realise that we would be delighted with a 1st round playoff loss this season.

I must have missed the game where KF introduced two chaps in white suits, called Mr Roarke and Tattoo, to us at half time at the HJS.

I actually agree with this, but what you've described is a club in need of an injection, not a rotten club that was in crisis and needed ripping asunder in the way Powell has done. I was eventually happy for Price to go for the reasons you described but the way people carried on for years was weird given how stable we generally were and pretty close to what we wanted to be. We are a million miles away today.

Goodness me, pick the bones out of that.

I agree with some of this, but hypothetically, indulge me - we're 20-18 up against Toulouse, we put a kick out on the full and in the next set, Gigot hands off Holmes and scores to win it.

As supporters, what should be the reaction? Resigned shrugs, gallows humour or is venting frustration at a perceived lack of effort and commitment a reasonable emotion?

Jesus Christ I'm getting instructions on how I should feel and support my team from someone who's avatar is a euphemism for female genitalia.

I've supported Wire long before anyone in the current playing or coaching squad arrived and I'll support them long after they've gone, I'm a life long supporter, I can't shake that.

This rugby club is a passion for many people and when they see something they've followed for 50+ years, fade into a ball of nerves and terrible defense it hurts.

If I'm allowed to cheer when they score and win I'm allowed to express disdain at the dire collapses and the 30+ points being shipped 10 times this season. It's a professional sport who charge money for us to watch them, they know the script, they know how it works
They set expectations too, Powell was still talking about the top 6 2 weeks ago, they're baiting optimism and delivering tripe.

As long as it doesn't turn stupid like the phucking morons doing death threats etc, then I think people are entitled to express their opinion on performance.

FWIW I didn't go today but i can tell you the crowd didn't get on the players backs or cause any stress before the final hooter against Salford nor against Hull KR and the team still collapsed.

This isn't a fan problem, this season isn't being caused by wire2004 and his pals. Are they helping? Dunno. But they aint causing it, i know that for a fact

Read the post I was responding to. It was basically condoning people rocking up to have a go at the players and club from the start.

If what you describe happening does indeed happen, then I will totally understand the frustration, but I'd hope that until that point the fans did their maximum to get behind the team and weren't just sat waiting for the first mistake, so they could jump on the backs of the players, which is what is basically happening now.

Like I said, relegation would be a just reward for some of our 'supporters'....
