| Interesting indication of what kind of coach Powell will be in terms of selection. If the 3 drop back in when fit then something is pretty wrong.
We forced 2 repeat sets this game I think. Felt like zero the last 2 games with Widdop and Ratchford in the halves.
It’s hard not to get excited by Dean. We’ve seen young lads like O Brien and Patten come and go but they never but their stamp on a game like Dean did.

Widdop for me, ratchford is the better player at the moment.
So today we had a far better field position and game management with a 20 year old inexperienced youngster and a centre in the halves, its been a real problem so far the halfback positions. If Riley Dean is the best of our options for the team then a marquee player simply has to be dropped. Up to Dean to make the shirt his own like thewlis has.

In our run of defeats, I have noticed that at the end of the games, Widdop was laughing with the opposition players, while other Wire players were obviously hurting after another loss.
This is Widdop`s last season with us and I think that is heart is in Australia where his family are.
It`s time for Powell to look to the future now, and omit Widdop from our squad.

Thewlis is already there, no way he should lose that fullback shirt now except for injury or a drastic drop of form.'"
Surely Thewlis has nailed that fullback spot now, what more can he do than play extremely well every chance he has had and score a hattrick in his last game?

It's more than the eyecatching scoring and distance gain stats though, how safe is he under a high ball? He had the nouse to hold his legs high last week against Hull to force a tackle in the air, his positioning is absolutely fantastic. The kid is a natural, he's already a fantastic fullback defensively, nice to see his attack from fullback developing as well. If we don't get this kid a starting fullback shirt another good team will. I want to see him get a testimonial at Warrington personally. I think he's the best youngster we have brought through since Ben currie with the potential to go on and be even more than that.

| Although not key today I thought Magoulias showed some really good touches. Looks like he’s getting fitter and will offer something different in the 13 role.
Oh, and how fast was Connor Wrench when he scored his try!

That whole sequence was fantastic, good set up, it must have been a real Ballache to try and guess what we were going to do and we ended up with a 2 man overlap.
Watson will no doubt be very disappointed with his team tonight, I was expecting a kicking

| I missed the game today and I've not read all the comments but I do love the fact Wrench, Thewlis and Dean are lads that want to play here and seemingly put in a performance. There's alot to be said for taking pride in the shirt.

Widdop and ratchford are expected to be out for a few weeks, the duck can let us know when Williams will be back. Even so surely dean gets a nod in the halves with Williams ahead of Mata'utia if Williams does come back?
Incidentally Mata'utia May not be the greatest player we have ever signed but he has played a lot of positions for us now and his attitude is always spot on. He would definitely have been the fall guy today if we lost, but him and Riley Dean made a mockery of our marquee recruitment.

Finally someone has mentioned matautia. The guy was captain in all but name today. Was constantly talking to, and encouraging the youngsters. Thewlis and Dean were outstanding, but peanut was my MOM.

| That’s all I’ll ask for, even if we didn’t get the result, we played hard and used the ball positively. Ashton saw a lot of the ball, the halfbacks looked like they were comfortable together and the fullback like he was excited to get the ball because he believed he could make something happen.
I’m a bit long in the tooth to demand that we’re top and win everything, I just want to display the right attitude.
I think it’s time to put these kids in now. They will have bad weeks (Longstaff last week for example) but they need to get them out of their system.
Thewlis is a star, Dean looked cool and composed, Wrench glided into space and just cruised to the line without needing another gear. Also, the King and Currie link is looking really lively.
Still, Cooper is the key for me. He was first class yesterday. Supported well by Mulhearn too.

| The little things that Thewlis did were impressive. I watched him time his jump to a high ball to perfection with three Hudds players charging in on him.

| Just watched the highlights. Looks to me like Lolohea deliberately tripped Matty Ashton in the lead up to the first try. TJ didn't do anything but looks clear when you watch it.
