Quote: morleys_deckchair "I’m afraid you lost all credibility when you said it was very close.

It was the complete opposite... very one sided... there wasn’t one saints player that played better than his opposition number.... beat all ends up, right across the pitch all night.

And we still managed to do that without both our captains and our marquee signing.'"

How many breaks were there in the game? I can think of Ashton's one where he panicked and thought he was playing rugby union but that's about it. Saints were truly woeful with the ball, but still managed what five or six repeat sets on your line and more than enough ball in your 20 to have scored enough points to win a game, we just didn't do anything with it. Those aren't hallmarks of a one sided game. Warrington were always in control of the game and thoroughly deserved to win but it wasn't a hammering.

Quote: Saddened! "I don't see what all the fuss is about. Arguably two of the top three sides played and one side won. That doesn't mean the other team is incapable of beating the other. Maybe this is finally the year you win Super League, but it's easy to see where the song comes from. One win against us and suddenly all our players are cowards or terrible and judging by the responses we'll be lucky to avoid relegation this year. We'll see how it pans out. Who's the 3rd top team?
I don't for one minute think Pies are anywhere near as good as Wire and Saints....Hull?
BTW...I think you're alright. You got the bit about my predictions a bit off, but your alright.

I would expect to see a team celebrating “nilling” the opposition, and that’s what they did.No one believes this means we have won anything other than one match in a long season. As for us beating “ half a team” laughable, just laughable. Most impressive for me was the “steel” in the team and the belief as a collective that Saints would not breach the defensive line, as evidenced by the short drop outs.
Attacking rugby including , at last, a proper wingers try.
Don’t want to get too giddy but Ashton has the makings of a little cracker, the break (before the penalty) was quality.
Still someone near me on the question of Ashton said “ he’s not my cup of tea”! No pleasing some!

Criticising Ashton? Oh yeah he paled into insignificance next to the messiah Welsby.

I never said it was a hammering... you’re the one that said it was ‘very close’.... everyone could see it wasn’t close. You were comprehensively outplayed all night.... and scored no points.

I've not read any pundit or Saints fan and almost all of Wire fans saying Saints wouldn't win.

Never in doubt for me but Saints did grind at it for 20 min...after that you could see they were blowing.

Saints are an extremely good side...and it'll be us and them all season. Just at this time...Saints players simply aren't as fit as Wire. Injury excuses account for little...otherwise we'd have used them at Wembley.
Wire have raised the bar as far as fitness goes.

A winning margin of more than 3 converted tries doesnt suggest a close game to me. There is definitely better to come from saints though, they're still the team to beat.

We seem very fit - to defend 4 or 5 sets of six on our own line showed that.
We seem to have a lot of togetherness and spirit.
We have become defensively tough.
The offloads are back meaning more excitement in attack.

As the Deckchair say Currie had a great game, his hardest test for some time, he went well and long may that continue.

That Instant reaction video was, well truly appalling to watch, truly delusional fan and interviewer

Without doubt Warrington must put Ratch as Captain from he on in, he was immense in his captaincy.

I can't see how Saints can hide behind the missing players excuse, because the team of youngsters that they're going on about got them over our line 3 times and had two more opportunities dragged into touch.

Both teams were very well matched and Saints did enough to win the game. It's just we played and defended better.

Let saddened find his excuses and hide behind his sarcastic little posts. None of them will ever acknowledge that they fielded a strong team capable of winning and got completely played off the park.

Early days but the signs are good.

Out of the first two games the only new players added to the 17 have been Gelling and Ashton (you could argue that Burrell didn't count last year). The difference has been;

Ratchford replacing Patton in the halves (we could have done this last year by playing Mamo at FB)
BMM and Currie are injury free and starting to show the form that we expect
General fitness levels. I thought that we took a step backwards last year when we lost John Clarke but Ade Gardner seems to have grown into the role.

I believe that the style of play is a product of the above rather than just being down to a change of tactics

Agree 100%. The group seem to be a lot happier in their work. I saw dummy runners last night. I thought they were extinct

Very encouraged by the first 2 displays. Price has some headaches coming up over team selection when everybody is fit and healthy.
