| Quote: Aboveusonlypie "In an attempt to move this along. Props at Academy level are notoriously difficult to handle. Very few make it to the senior game. Many of the props in Super League started as second rowers or even in the backs (Morley, Peacock, Clubb).
I suspect that a trawl through the Warrington books over the last ten years won't produce many prop forwards who are still playing at the top level.
But I've tried to come up with Wigan's forwards (second row or prop). So here goes -
Crosby
Farrell
Burke
O'Loughlin
Hock
Hansen
Tomkins
O'Carroll
Kavanagh
Mossop
Allen
Jewitt
Wild
And the ones who retired early - Prescot and Hargreaves. Not sure what happened to Davies at Widnes.
Ok, so prove that Wire are better.'"
To PY,
I posted this yesterday. So far, no-one has taken me up (and please don't come back with"I haven't got time" because that took me about 5 minutes and no doubt I've forgotten or missed others).
Am I to take it that you concede defeat and that your spurious argument/theory holds no water?
Regards AUOP

And they've signed Gary Wheeler. Did he play too much rugby (no even I can't suggest that) too young?

Jesus Christ I've asked which Wigan props (including the "fourth" prop playing at 13 if you like) have had careers where they have improved as they matured rather than their careers dipping due to injuries, if you answer that I'll consider responding to your query by siting examples such as Mike Cooper and Ben Harrison amongst others.

| Pretty sure you'll be able to add Ben Evans to that list as well PY. I think Wane has their interests at heart now though as he's managed to give Flower a pretty decent rest in order to give him some prospect of longevity.

Paul, sorry if I've got hold of the wrong end of the stick here. I tried to answer your question with a list. Most of them have improved with age, even someone like O'Carroll is plying his trade in super League week in and week out. You suggest that Wigan props are played too often too young, but I can't find any evidence to support that. You may indeed be right, but who do you mean? You call them robots, so maybe I've missed some.
I feel that you made an outlandish statement - that Wigan don't look after their props very well, that they are disposable, that their careers end early or are so busted up that they don't improve - but that you can't support it with names. Instead of just admitting that you might have over reacted you have clung on despite no evidence.
IT'S NOT UP TO ME TO DISPROVE YOUR THEORY, IT'S FOR YOU TO PROVE IT in the first place. Now tell us who you are referring to. Please.
(And by the way, I'm not really interested in point scoring here, if Wire have produced props like Harrison and Cooper and looked after them, them good for them. If Wigan have not cared about their players welfare then that's really bad. If you give me some names and you are right then I'll apologise and concede - is that reasonable?)

I don't know why you entertain these pedantic prats who have nothing better to do than trawl through other clubs boards to discuss the ins and outs of a cat's backside.

I was under the impression that it was a forum for Rugby league discussion.
What is it that you don't like - A Wigan fan attempting to discuss matters that relate to Wigan (take a look at the title of the thread) or that I along with a few other Wigan fans have exposed his 'theory' as stupid?
You obviously aren't comfortable taking your place in the wider world beyond Warrington, so I'll leave you now to discuss next years kit or your top 5 Super League era players or whether next year really is going to be the Year of the Wolf

see somebody does get it.
As I said like reverse trolling or this board has been worded up as wire incorrectly.
I can't think why I and a few other wire fans on here would want to post about wire rugby on a pie board.

To be fair I actually think the opposite, if I was having a read on another teams' board and they mentioned Wire I usually feel compelled to give an opinion.
I'm not saying that I agree with Rogues and AUOP and disagree with PY as I don't know what the answer is and given the topic can't be bothered to look up 'facts' to prove a point either way. However, I do think it's healthy to take in a wider view

| It seemed to me it was 3 pies having a chat between themselves on a topic about a player who I don't rate, and putting us to the sword for questioning their club.

I agree totally with taking a wider view but I don't think going on and on about a subject that isn't worth arguing about in order to score some pedantic petty point is worthy of comment. As you have said yourself the matter was insignificant and not worth the effort expended.
I would add that I have nothing against Wigan fans in general but a Richard Cranium is a Richard Cranium no matter what club he supports.

Fair do's Wireone, I agree.
We don't really want to 'live' in a Virtual Terrace world where it seems that pedantry reigns supreme. There are people on there who seem to take great delight in scoring points rather than making them, so much so that eventually there's no point, a bit like this really so I apologise
