The stats just reinforce for me that Asotasi is consistent at doing the basics, without doing anything spectacular, and whilst he isn't as poor as some suggest, he isn't "tearing it up" either.

| thing is though, he's not on 'basics' wages. He's there to be the cornerstone of the pack, the aforementioned hit on soliola, i thought at that point 'yes, thats the hit he needs to do to starting getting fans onside' Cos thats what he needs to do, clean someone out like an MF-er.
Is he doing the intangibles though, is he talking to his fellow forwards and motivating them, leading them? i can't see it, maybe he is.
Maybe he needs a substitute run at swinton, i dont know.
Sigh, its sad, cos i do want to like the fella, i really do, i'm not expecting him to be all fui fui moi moi off the bat, but i'd like him to smash a few players.

| I recall Trent Waterhouse being critised (on here) as achingly average compared to Louis Anderson, but he seems to have turned it around now.

People wanted him swapped with Danny Kirmond. Yes, that's right, Danny Kirmond

| Although I agree that Asotasi has been rather disappointing, in the game against Bradford he ran in the ball so hard that the Bradford player tackling him was stumbling and all but KO'd for the rest of the set.
I believe he has the strength and skill but it's a lack of effort on his part. Maybe homesickness, maybe arrogance.
Either way he needs to turn it around and improve or get booted out. I bet he's taking a large portion of the overseas quota and so far he isn't earning it.
In regards to the Magic game, I think we played well. Our covering defence was much better and Bridge, Russell and Ratchford played brilliantly.
Saints turned up expecting an easy win, their fans didn't even make a sound all day until their "comeback", and we stunned them.
Bring on the Whino's in 2 weeks.

| But Waterhouse was a divisive player, some got it and some didn't. Asotasi is not really divisive, we have some apologists and people who are hoping through blind faith that he will become good.
People are saying "give him time" and "remember Matt King". No one is saying he's good just some think he'll get there eventually.

| i dont think house was divisive, i think the way he was presented left people who didn't watch the nrl expecting Solomona-esque cray cray offloads, and they didn't get that, they got a workhorse with good offloading ability and even better offload IQ.

| I've loved House from the off, draws 3 defenders regularly, he's a big guy and hard to put down and his workrate is exceptional.
If MD would like to share his thoughts on House?

i haven't been impressed with him up until this season at all.
his defence has never been in doubt but with ball in hand he was poor i thought... last season he averaged under 6m, per carry, which is poor for any forward.
However, this season he appears to be running it in alot harder and making more yards... which is nice.
Whens does his contract run out?

| I never thought House was the kind of forward to smash the doors down, he's the kind of forward who distracts the bouncers while the centre sneaks in.

| He's been an exceptional player for us since the very first season.
He had a short settling in period of probably the first part of his first season where he was clearly adapting to the new style of rugby he was used to in the NRL.
L.Anderson isn't fit to lace his boots to he honest. And I like him.

Someone who can see past the hype and see the real quality of a player! LAnderson wasn't bad but people who rate him anywhere near as good as Waterhouse probably rated people like Danny Lima and Michael Sullivan. Enough said!

| Yeah you've Got to love players that:
A) are finding time to settle - Remember form is temporary class is permanent
B) Are adjusting to the different style of rugby from the NRL
C) maybe are being asked to do something different by the Coach (thats a favourite of mine)
D) Does stuff that goes Unnoticed...(belter)
or
E) Plays really well in the last year of his contract....
Trent's having a great season but he set the bar quite low to start off with, or maybe I just didn't notice the unnoticed stuff...
has anyone ever noticed Benny Westwood doing the unnoticed stuff.....
