| Quote: SEB "Agreed, well said.
No it isn't and no we are not.
It's been the same for all the time I've been going, which is getting on for 30 years! Some games you get a great atmosphere because of the occasion, sometimes because of the quality of the game, sometimes it just happens for no apparent reason. Other games the atmosphere is very flat. It's always been like this, whatever the year, whatever the stadium.
Why are some so obsessed with what songs to sing? It's a rugby match not a choral group!
Lastly, we definitely don't need drums - I think we've been there, done that. It did serve a purpose at one time but no more, please.'"
The atmosphere of a Wigan match is never going to be the same as playing Salford i know. Also it depends on what happens in the game. I am not obsessed with singing songs, i go to watch the rugby but singing/chanting has always been something that happens when you go to any sporting event and is use to get behind the team. As for the drums, i don't think we need another thread on that.

Chrissy I think that Mr 'Ave it was attempting to inject a little bit of humour into the proceedings by the use of sarcasm.
My advice would be to resist the temptation to feed him any more lines in which to test his acerbic wit. Although you should be commended for your act of kindness. After all, 'trolling' on our board is just a release for the everyday and constant worry that comes from supporting Salford.
BTW My guess is that he does attend matches, theirs not ours, as he states Peel Green as his location.

Just trying to be helpful to a fellow Wire, but, hey each to their own?
Also, don't limit yourself to Simon Cowell, (has he ever said such a thing, or did you thrutch up your waistband whilst typing?), when there is a whole catalogue of Oscar Wilde you could have chosen in the classic retort department.

I dont claim to know every fans face on a matchday but over the course of twenty or so years there's familiar faces i've become accustomed to seeing home or away.
Those three, never, and bear in mind that pic os from 01/02 when crowds were down to about 4k or less.
I'm thinking about starting an appeal.'"
I'm not going to name names but I think I know the lad crouching down. I've seen that photo before and it never clicked until now. If it is him I think he used to play for Rylands. There must be others on here who have played for Rylands and can confirm this. If it is him, I used to go every game home and away with him in the early 90's.

50086_1357229109.jpg [b:33tg3xj5]Me:[/b:33tg3xj5] I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.
[b:33tg3xj5]knockersbumpMKII:[/b:33tg3xj5] Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_50086.jpg |

| I always thought those 3 goons were Saints or Wigan fans having a giggle. I'm probably doing them too much credit.
As for singing, I'm 34 years old. I don't sing anymore really. At the risk of getting into a tiresome debate about what a "supporter" is, I don't think it's my job to sing. I'm there to watch the game and support the club generally be coughing up my hard earned. Same reason I spend north of £150 a quid on gear in the club shop, I don't need it, but it's something I'm proud to be associated with and they need the cash.
SEB is right about the atmosphere. There were some truly awful days at Wilderspool in every sense of the word and The Fletcher Street End was not the cauldron of sound people think it was. Similarly, when the H & J is rocking, it's at least on a par with the old place, if not better.

| Quote: Teessidewire "I have serious worries about anyone who would want to start up a group with a name that is associated with one of the most feared group of football hooligans in Europe (or a sanitary towel, be it with or without wings). it would automatically the chav types that all decent RL fans hate. Why can't everyone simply support their team in their own way and not be dictated to by a small group. If anyone has ever stood or sat next to me they'll know that I am one of the noisiest men that they'll ever have the misfortune to be next to, but I don't sing. Every couple of weeks we get a thread like this and we get the same few who think only they can create an atmosphere.'"
Ultras are not hooligans. I've spoken to a number of fans from numerous countries around Europe over the last few years (Poznan, Aris, Napoli, Sporting) and all of them confirmed to me that Ultras are the colourful and noisy fans of a club. Hooligans are hooligans. The British media started getting this mixed up quite a while ago and it has stuck ever since.

I don't like drums. If they were a bit more subtle then they'd be okay, but no matter what sport or club it is, the drummer will be bashing out of that drum and it sounds crap. It all sounds a bit forced. Give the drums a rest and i reckon within a season we'd have a better array of songs and more spontaneous singing.

| Tom Hark is a hundred times worse than the drums mind. Nothing ruins an atmosphere more than music after tries/goals.
Spontaneous celebration reduced to mindless clapping along to generic rubbish in an instant.
