| Quote: the flying biscuit "in his sky interview Tony smith talked about discussing the possiblity of the free weekends with Jimmy lowes on the journey down. he said in the past resting players hasnt worked. And that was a prime example tonight, Briers, Anderson and Morley were awful, King did ok and Westwood was reasonable but below his usual best.
I'm sure Smithy was putting positive spin on the loss, but there has got to be some mileage in playing week in week out.
realisticlly we could be warming up for a Saints rematch with a game against (probably) hull at the Halliwell Jones. it would give us a great boost and its better than playing against your reserves in a mock match isnt it...?'"
I agree. It's knock out stuff now and we have not lost a knock out game under Smith. Then again we have not played a knock out game against St Helens yet under Smith.
On a side note Smith, personally, must be smarting that the most unsuccessful Saints' coach in SL era has done him like a kipper 4 times in a row now.

But the extra game could also end up being a curse. It's a game you could potentially lose plus there is always the chance of injuries or suspensions arising from it. Add to that losing tonight means you are away in the semi final no matter what happens from now on, which is a big thing.

in real terms we were beaten by a team that trundled it up the park with minimum fuss, they scored a fluke "try" By Wellens that gave them belief that it was their night like usual.
Then cunningham scoring a try which came from him simply having no other option but to go himself, he looked for runners and had none! that again endorsed the fact that things were "going their way"
The saints pack as a whole played well, to say James Graham on his own dominated our entire Pack (including Carvell who was our best player) is giving credit where it isnt due.
but they made their own luck and fair play to em fair result. but I dont have to take anything with class it isnt my style....'"
Cunningham try = SH1T DEFENCE........

Correct ... he was only ever going to go for a solo 'pie-muncher' try.

You sound like a wire player with a monkey on his back.

| For me most of the points have been made but to summarise.
1. Wire made a great start which might have worked against us for the following 70 mins.
2. Matty Smith had a point to prove, and he did, good luck to the lad.
3. The game should have been KO, which is really what Playoff footy is all about.
4. Saints played a very calculated game, kicked their goals and took 2 point pens rather than trying for the 4.
5. Saints adapted to the conditions and credit to them for that
6. My neck hurts from having to keeping moving either side of an 8inch stanchion to see the game
7. Wire panicked with 25 mins to go
In a strange way it may work in our favour (fingers firmly crossed)

| Quote: Duke Eddington "Since you brought up the subject of grounding the ball, how long as a player been able to ground the ball with his testicles, A la Myler, if the ref had gone to the video Saints would have had another try. Wellens grounded the ball, Myler didn't. Get over it.'"
I'm with you on that....Myler had as much knowledge of grounding the ball as Wellens did, which was absolutely zero.
It definitely isn't sour grapes on my part, just an opinion that the rules are a joke that allows a try to be awarded for what is basically, accidental downward pressure.

Don't rate Foster. Can hardly call Graham and Soliola youngsters.
