If the mis-spelling was purposeful then, of course, I apologise for missing the joke TANCW.
Out of interest, which tourist attractions did you visit? It may whet the appetite of others to visit Edinburgh next year.
In closing, philistine is typically only capitalised at the beginning if you are using in the proper noun context referring to an inhabitant of ancient Philistia rather than using it as a common noun to describe a person lacking in cultural awareness or appreciation etc.

| Holyroodhouse and Camera Obscura (this time).
I'm going to do the Rebus tour next year.
Interesting debate to be had on use of whether to use the upper case when a common noun is derived from a proper noun. See recent article in The Guardian - rlFreudian or freudian?rl

Camera Obscura looks good, I may go there next time and also as a Rankin fan the Rebus tour sounds interesting too.
Interesting point on the capitalisation. I would argue along the lines of David Marsh and assert that the noun philistine has long since lost it's association with the region of Israel and, as such, losing the capital is correct. Another good example of this is 'vandal'. We would very rarely capitalise this word unless referring to the Germanic tribe in the 5th century.

| I went to Edinburgh last Easter as well as this weekend. Sights I recommend visiting:
Camera Obscura
Castle
Scotch Whisky Experience
Dynamic Earth
Scottish Parliament
Grassmarket
Royal Mile
The West End
National Museum
Holyrood Palace
Holyrood Park
Prince Street Gardens
And that's just for starters. There's tons of stuff to do. But now we really are straying off topic!

Whisky place was good when I went five or six years ago. If you like malt whisky it's definitely worth a trip.
I looked at Dynamic Earth for this time, but plumped for Camera Obscura. Both good for kids under 10, I reckon.

I've still got four or five to read. Last one I read was "The Falls", so going past Surgeons' Hall was interesting.

| Quote: Dave T "There were loads of Scottish accents in the ground, and plenty of Scotland Union shirts around.
There were certain parts of the town where the pubs were full of Rugby fans, but the town is much bigger than Cardiff, so the spreading out of fans will always happen.
The weather was glorious, but Gateaux makes a good point that had the weather been like today, the event could be a washout.'"
Echo on these points for sure – we were in the south stand both Sat & Sun & saw plenty of Scottish Union shirts in that area. Wetherspoons on George St was like a RL gathering both before and after the games on each day We were lucky to get the weather we did, as the walk to Murrayfield & all the goings ons once inside the ground wouldn’t of worked no were near as good (this is where the roof at Millennium stadium gets a plus point, even though it wasn’t needed this w/end). Was great how people could sit around & take up the atmosphere etc.
Think the set up overall was very good & plenty to keep people busy between games. We caught up with the mascots before they headed onto the pitch for the mascot games on Sat, along with Robbie Paul & Iestyn Harris on Sun. All were in no rush & spent time chatting/having pics with fans. We watched all 7 games over the w/end (noticed many left after their game though), got our money’s worth as ours wasn’t until the last of the competition - got talking to various fans throughout the day....there was a good vibe within the stadium, just as we've had at Cardiff too.
We know the weekend again will be hosted at Murrayfield next year, will be interesting to see were this event goes next. I did enjoy Edinburgh; although think it should continue on move again – not sure if they’d take it back to Cardiff. Anyone have any ideas of decent venues that could be successful for this w/end?

I think a venue needs:
-Good quality, decent size stadium (min 50k, I know we won't fill that, but it's nice to have the flexibility to move around which would be harder in a smaller stadium)
-Decent host city with it's own tourist attractions and sufficient accomodation
-Far enough away from M62 heartlands to encourage people to go for weekend
-Not too far away though, so day trippers can be included too.
I don't think anywhere quite meets those criteria other than Cardiff and Edinburgh. I was thinking the other night the Emirates looks a nice stadium, but we already go to London for the Cup Final, and everyone would get dispersed into the city and so it wouldn't have the same festival feel.

| Was you happy with your seats at weekend seb or will you be sitting somewhere else next year
I personally feel that the reserved upper seats should have been above the unreserved lower, so that all fans are virtually in one section.

Happy enough yeh, we wandered over to the East side on the Saturday for a bit but I felt the view wasn't great from the lower tier, so returned to our seats in the West Upper. East Upper probably would have been better.

I was sat a few behind you, we moved after the Leeds game to get abused and threatened by the HKR fans.....great stuff.

The only other place I can think of is Newcastle.

but that is a final between 2 teams not the whole league which makes it more marketable and the press don't like stepping out the M25 if they can help it so im sure they'd put a bit more effort into it only downside is it can only start after football season is over
