| Quote: Saint #1 "If he was lazy for large parts of the game, his 19 carries for 161m (13m more than anyone else on the pitch) is even more impressive! The first pass, to GOB, I'll cop being forced, even though GOB didn't take it because he was tackled without the ball, hence you getting a penalty. The second pass, Harrison should have taken that all day, hence him apologising at the scrum. A tackle bust is breaking a tackle, it's completely different to a clean break (breaking the line). Walmsley is on 64 tackle busts for the season, don't think he's made many clean line breaks'"
He made one clean line break for his first try. ..how obvious do you need one to be. .?
And mtrs made let's take that.... currie scores a fifty mtr try down the touchline unopposed. Ratchford fields a kick on his own line and makes thirty metres on open grass before reaching another human being Chris Hill makes a three mtr carry under his own sticks with three Catalan forwards smashing in to him. Those mtrs are directly comparable in the stats.... surely you can see there is no point what so ever in comparing the "easy" mtrs with those hill sims and Westwood make???

| I've been a reader of this forum for quite a while but i had to sign up as i dont understand the thinking of a lot of the posters.
My main question is what are you expecting from our younger players?
I understand you want players like the legends before but its not going the happen that way!
Patton, Currie, both Kings, Ormsby, Philbin and any others?
I know you all want the glory days but these aren't going to be the same players as Briers, Westwood, King, Morley.
They're going to be different players in their own right!
The main talking point of this thread seems to be Currie and comparisons to Westwood and Hill.
Of course he's not going to make the same kind of metres of Hill and Westwood, they're battering rams, Curries a ball playing forward who will see the gaps and put his support runners through, although a few of his runs against Cats put their players on their a$$es!
You said he wasn't there for obrien, watch it back, he was there obrien just didn't pass it!
So I what are you wanting?

| To be fair Currie is developing it can be seen each week not a messiah but one we can believe in for the future, a measure of respect the Cats gave him was to put a very good player Whitehead 5/6 years senior out wide to mark him, Whitehead as a rule is all over the pitch but on Friday he was mainly concentrated on the right, Currie certainly draws the attention of opposition defences.
Watching the game back the amount of intense tackling was amazing by all, Atkins put some big hits on big men took his tries well as usual and was going strong at the end he just needs to work on his centre play technicalities, all of which Toby King already posses just not as physical as Atkins yet.

| On the Guardian web page this morning,Tony Smith is rightly bemoaning the lack of reserve sides within the game to get players match fit. The RFL money saving idea is crippling the game & leaving too much of a step up from under 19 to full on superleague rugby.

| Quote: Bobby_Peru "Think your right about GOB being brought back for his goal kicking, pity it was very ordinary last night. I'd stick with Bridge as kicker tbh.
We played some decent stuff in patches las night, however it would have been a different result if Cats hadn't knocked on when they looked like going in for their third straight try at the start of the second half. We really need to do some work on our mindset when coming back on after the break, that's two weeks now where we have been caught napping.
Can someone explain to me why Westwood thought that applying a chicken wing tackle was a good idea, just bleeding stupid, he'll miss the Shudders game for that.'"
He didn't, he put pressure on Batieri's neck when in an awkward position.

| If only John Clarke and Mike Wainwright still played for us. I'm sure that they would take most of the flak some of our younger players are getting. I think the long term future of the club looks very exciting. We have some excellent youngsters and add in a sprinkling of experience such as Gidley and a marquee player next year and we should be well placed.

So many old folks around me slate the young guys before kickoff. "He's really gotta step up tonight or we should ship him out." He's 20!

Agree 100% about the long term future for the club, it's good to see the young players coming through the more the merrier.

| I disagree, the pressure on the neck was exacerbated by raising his arms into an unnatural position. Anyway, we'll see what the RFL says on it.

| It was a disgusting crusher and chicken wing tackle, preceded by both elbows to the face and a Cumberland throw and polished off by an attack to the legs. Westwood could cop a long ban for it.
In all seriousness, I couldn't see it but the ref indicated a crusher tackle.

| I'm just going by what I saw on the Sky replay. It sure didn't look pretty, whatever the tackle is referred to.
