No country for old men perhaps? There will be blood was a close second for the Best film award that year, however Daniel Day Lewis was epic!
Right about The Departed, probably not the best Scorsese film. Really liked Raging Bull.
Ferris Buellers Day Off is a good one too.

No Country For Old Men and There Will Be Blood are both fantastic films, got to agree that Daniel Day-Lewis was excellent!
Also, Dead Mans Shoes is a film I would recommend
