| Ferguson won the Scottish league and cup winners cup (with Aberdeen) showing a clearly superb pedigree. Powell has won a meaningless LLS and then bottled 3 finals

| Quote DAG="DAG"You keep referencing Alex Ferguson in your staunch defence of Powell, but for every Ferguson, there’s a Graeme Souness, or a Roy Hodgson.
One came into a club hell for leather and initiated a clear out and ended up alienating several long serving players and the other worked well at lesser clubs, but wasn’t up to the task of managing a bigger club.
Powell’s looking like a mix of the latter.'"
Fergie was nearly sacked after 2 seasons. That's 1.5 years longer than you're giving Powell. I'm not defending Powell tonight though. But even the most short sighted must realise that any coach tasked with changing the culture at a club with a raft of changes will need more than half a season.

So who would you have brought in? Plenty of captain hindsights on here but only one person in the past two weeks has made any suggestions.
I'm still awaiting a poster to provide the name of definitive coach who would have 100% made things better. Unless you you know 100%, which no-body will, you have to give the coach a reasonable amount of time.
Powell is staying anyway. Its crap at the moment, but you and everybody else are going to have to stomach it.

| Serious question here, I'm not trying to be smart or snidey, but who said there is a change of culture required at Warrington?
If the WG were any sort of newspaper (lol) they would try to contact Steve Price over in Oz and put the question to him - he's nothing to lose or gain & no axe to grind, but I'd be really interested to hear his viewpoint.

| Turning around man United in the early 80s was a FAR FAR bigger job than an established (common final appearances) RL side that has just finished 3rd with the 2nd best defence and attack.
It’s an absolute nonsense that it takes a long time to turn around SL sides as things currently stand.
You’re telling me it takes 19 weeks to perfect at least ONE attacking move and get a defensive structure in place?

Bernard Manning if he was alive. He might not be a good rugby coach but he could make people laugh.

That isn’t a defence of Powell? I would suggest ANYBODY would currently improve our defence. Our defence under Price was very good and I remember Powell acknowledging that and saying it only needed a ‘tweak’ - well WHAT ON EARTH did he do?
You were loving it after we beat Catalans’ second string - which Salford duly dispatched with ease. So what now? Name something Powell is currently doing that I can see on game day that assures me he is the right man for the job?

| Top spenders, producing 3 consecutive 1st round knockouts against much less well financially backed teams playing atrocious rugby with crowds on the slide. The players couldn't be ar$ed. If that doesn't signal for a culture change, I don't know what does.
In previous years, prior to this, we lost two challenges cup finals with arguably stronger teams than the opposition.

Id be on the phone to tony smith 4 weeks ago to steady the ship.
he did it in 09 with what basically was Cullen's team. and actually got them working as a team. a challenge cup followed 4 months later.
he admitted he fell out of love with the game in 17. came back in 2021 and pulled a 9th or 10th place hull kr team to within 80 minutes of a grand final last year and only left due to disagreements with the kr board.

| Answer the question! Harking back to (more successful) Price seasons isn’t helping your argument. What are the green shoots I am currently seeing/missing?

We did lose CCF finals against opposition we ‘should’ have beaten. We have just lost at home (shipping 30 points again) to a second strong HKR side who have a caretaker coach and are on the bones of their arrises. This was at home and in a game we desperately needed to win. What a culture change eh?

I'm not defending Powell tonight. What i am defending is the right for a coach to be given time to fully implement changes. Not once have I defended any of Powell's decisions or influence on the game tonight.
I was happy after the Catalan game as I thought there were some green shoots - everyone else did - and even the Powell outs had changed their mind. At least I have the courage of my convictions and haven't flipped again.
You and some others though, do seem to be a little obtuse on the potential impact a cultural change, such as this, will have on a team. I can understand some people wanting him out now, he's harder to defend after tonight.
The problem you have, along with all the other Powell out mob, is that if Powell goes now, you'll never be able to say you were right as we'll never know how good or bad he would been.
He ain't going anywhere though.
