| Quote: inside_man "I don't see why he couldn't play 2nd row, he runs it in hard and straight and always makes good yards. To be frank we've just never had to resort to using him in the 2nd row, we're pretty well stocked in that area.
The one year that Pat played centre he was poor, but the whole team was poor and even when he played on the wing he didn't look great, he was low on confidence. However i see no reason why he couldn't. ATEOTD though, they are both wingers, so we should just compare them at that position!'"
In that case, play stand off and scrum half and prop all at once.
He hasn't coz we have other players who do that, but if we had to use King in all of those positions at once then he'd be awesome at them. All at the same time.
Oh and King is a centre/winger and now /second row
DOH!

Anyway id be suprised if he didnt go back to Australia, with the exchange rate being 1.53 last time i checked, it makes sense for someone with his sort of profile to go back home, as he would have plenty interest.'"
if you think carmont is better than king then i`d give up drinking or stop smoking those funny fags..true irish pat is a better kicker thats about it...what next oloughlins the best player ever

Isnt Richards West tigers record points scorer (in a season) in his season there..a season that coincidently they were premiers.
They've been nowhere near since and coincidently Wigan have, hardly something to laugh about. but then an Australian would laugh if he got his own tinkle stuck in a mangle. (Jo, Mrs, or the machine used to dry out clothes in the olden days take your pick.)'"
My bad, it wasn't a player, but the Aussie fans, just found the link now. It was on the Trent Waterhouse thread we had on here a couple of weeks ago (found rlhererl), page 3, St pete's post.

| Cue the pies claiming he's on alot less then he was here as soon as he signs.
We have got plenty off backs though including the best in the league right now, wonder who will be next seasons big money signing?

| Quote: worthing wire "I wouldn't either. Richards' biggest asset is his goalkicking, and we have a top notch goalkicker this season (at long last).'"
His 9 trys in 7 games and 125m per match aren't too bad though to be fair especially on the back of an injury that i've seen alot of players struggle to ever come back the same player from.
His Man of Steel award wasn't given on goalkicking either.
He's the best winger in superleague and he'd get in literally any side in the league. I don't say that with tinted specs on either as i'm sensible enough to admit guys like Morley, Monaghan, Briers etc etc would walk a place in our side and pretty much every superleague sides starting thirteens.

He's got Wigan and Saints to chose from plus maybe an offer from us, he will be on less but not the pennies they claim.

| Quote: morleys_deckchair "There is no way Richards would have won man of steel if he wasn't a goal kicker.'"
His 29 trys and 11 assists must have had him in the running but it does make him stand out to a point. He's so much more then a player that stands out just because of his goalkicking though. He's a huge bloke who's got decent pace, power, a crazy leap for a high ball and a great handling when he reaches them. He makes the game look so simple but one thing I would say has helped him as much as his goalkicking is the bloke at the side of him. The understanding him and Carmont have is a joy to watch and it will be interesting to see how Richards would get on with a new partner.
I always wonder how we struggle to produce wingers in the mould of Richards, King and Monaghan that are big and powerful but also make the game look simple. We seem to produce loads of little stocky wingers that will give it a proper go but don't have the tools to take the step up to test match level.

| How many tries and assists did Goulding get on the opposite wing?

| Thing is though, people go on about his metre making, yes he's a strong runner, but how many of them metres are from kick returns when the wingers drop back? A fair few I'd imagen.

| Imagine how many points he would have scored if be had been your goalkicker.
He would have broken wigans point scoring record like Richards did... In that scenario no way would Richards have won MOS

| I'd love to have Richards in our team but i would not replace King for him. King is just as good of a winger as Richards and a far better Centre. A solution to this argument. Turn the rumour right around and sign Richards and put King as his centre

and 1926 metres in comparison to Richards 3670.
The overall quality of Richards and Goulding just doesn't compare.
