How dare Phil Clarke take exception to people shouting personal abuse at him. Not as if he was outside walking the streets. He should accept foul abusive language from a cross section of dim witted boozed up fans in good humour. Perhaps congratulate them in their continued unoriginal rhetoric and sycronised head gestures.

After all, if they didn't get a reaction what would have been the point, could have used that hand for another 2 pint of lager.

I don't think he did anything wrong. I got the impression he was saying "you come here and do better" nothing in it for me.

Yea i ain't abusive

It was someone stood a few rows in front of me, but not sure exactly who and what was said that got Clarke so annoyed. Phil Clarke has walked past the fans before he did it a few weeks ago. I think he is used to and and prob enjoys a bit of banter but don't agree that people who don't even know the guy need to go over the top and personally abuse the him. Some people just go to far and think its acceptable.

His reaction was all wrong imo but there wasn't any need to give the abuse he got from the South Stand. Some of the folk in there make you shudder sometimes. We don't agree with some of his comments about us and his distinct lack of any due praise but so what? He's entitled to his opinion (however one eyed) and we should complain to Sky if we're not happy, I did.

So it's ok for Mathers to give it back to some guy abusing him on Twitter but it's not OK for Phil Clarke to give some back when he's getting it from the south stand?

Come on. The south stand didn't seek him out or attack him personally. He walked over, got a few boos etc. I know i shouted a few "who are you" chants as well as booed. He took it all wrong and showed just how pathetic he really is.

I respect Richie for standing his ground when a FAN (supposedly) goes to lengths to insult and try to get under his skin. Phil Clarke just seemed like a big baby and the way he bottled it quickly a little bit of a poser.

To be honest, if a multi millionaire did buy us out and go spend-crazy, like City (and Chelsea before), then it would probably finally kill off any little interest I have remaining in the game of football....I fell out of love with the sport a long time ago and only my children's interest in the sport has kept what interest going that I do have.

I just find the whole foreign owenership thing so immoral and as done absolutely nothing for the English game....Just witness the recent World Cup debacle, which all stemmed from the Premier League big guns strangling the life out of the English national team.

As for City, I see little joy for their true long-time fans, in watching some bloke with little interest in your club, buy his way in, and then proceed to fill your side with players who similarly have little interest in your club....Modern football just seems to be over-rated coaches playing a glorified version of Football Manager in the most corrupt way possible...

Utd's money came in from being successful on and off the field not by someone coming in with a big cheque book, i think that's why people don't criticise them for it,it was all done legitimately through football and not outside influences.
