Well since then the scholarship system has been filled with many local players, indeed six of the U15s are now from Latchford.

And still PLENTY of mistruths about the benefits of the St Helens system against our own. Quite frankly if the honour of playing for our town, our team doesn't outweigh any small differences in training programmes then we are well shot of any such players.

And considering only around 7% of all scholarship/ academy players end up playing SL I don't think it should be seen as a particularly viable career choice and should be taken for what it is. So why not play for the team you want to play for?

Those things are more guidelines than rules. But we will see if he plays.

Lomax rested as he's a superstar now he's a fullback, Gaskell and Hohaia injured. Charnock did okay tonight, came up with some relieving kicks and scored his first points for the club.

Probably made the right choice then as he is getting a start at one of the smaller clubs.

Talking of which Salford have found another young gem in Sneyd. Almost single handedly won it for Salford tonight. When are you signing him?

we could sign him if we wanted to and offer him bankbusting, salary cap breaking deal as we have bottomless amounts in the coffers,we don't really need him but i am very surprised he isn't part of your superlative youth system,he obviously isn't from warrington then?

Much as I'd love to have a starting XIII of Warrington bred lads, it's not going to happen any time soon. I'll take trophies, ta very much.

Kids are going to leave us, it's the law of sod. Some may go onto bigger and better things. Good luck to 'em. I'm sure we'll get some kids from Stains', Worriers and Leeds' academies in the future. As someone pointed out earlier, not many turn out to be the new Ellery Hanley.

Now there's an interesting name we may hear a bit more about in the next two or three years.

As hard as this may be to believe considering our recent history you will find Warrington will rarely sign players from now on. They want to actually see the benefits of the youth system.

What, Ellery Hanley? Do you reckon he's coming back then? Could be the next Wigan coach?

I would love Ellery to be back in rugby league, the greatest sportsman in history IMO.
