| But no reform at the match review committee so any slight indiscretions will immediately lead to a 3 game ban. 5 games on appeal and 7 games when taken to the independent tribunal.
This is the area that they need to address. Not the rules and applications of the game that will last a grand total of 5 games before being watered down because the fans. Coaches and players are kicking up so much of a fuss thatbthe rfl have to take action and water it down.
They also need to address the referees and the lack of understanding of the game.

| Quote: karetaker "Walsmley will have to retire if they enforce the PTB rule.'"
I didn't read anything about stepping off the mark. He will probably win penalties for saints for the opposition contacting him after he's walked forward 4 paces in to them after his off balance PTB. Saints have different rules and preferential treatment. Don't you remember the meltdown when they had the same rules at the start of last season?

| Quote: Or thane "Yay just like the last time the play the ball correctly was being policed, lasted about 3 games then just got ignored.
Rules change all the time then just get they slack off and it reverts back to how it was before.
It will be over policed then drop right off, it's always the same.'"
The RFL and refs get the ruck/play the ball they deserve. The messing about could be addressed readily with fair warning before the season and consistent enforcement of the rules of the game.
I am glad they see this area as a major detriment to the spectacle of the game.
Personally I would have done away with the set restart entirely. It is not sufficient punishment and is gamed.

I think it may be a case that they bend the rules to the limit better than any other side. They must practice it to perfection.

| Haven't the rules around playing the ball & markers not square been in place for many years ? Also , defenders moving forward too early. They just need to be enforced evenly & impartially by the officials. Perhaps giving the touch judges greater powers in these areas would be a positive.

| Quote: Boss Hog "I would have preferred that the 6 again rule was removed altogether.
There were games that I watched last season, where the application of this rule was a joke, and refs were imposing another set of six without any apparent reason.'"
I think the main problem with six again is that fans on the terraces aren't actually up to speed on why it has been given . The play might have already moved on quite a way when the ref signals six again.

I don't agree with this at all and understand that fans of every club probably feel hard done to, even at the same game.
I think that it might have worked as a concept, a punishment that keeps the game going BUT in reality I think it's one of the most inconsistent, arbitrary rules from an enforcement POV. Most of it seems subjective because the infringements tend to be minor in nature.

| What i was trying to say was that play can move on & fans can be left wondering what-the-flipping-heck-was-that-for when the hooter sounds & the ref waves his arm.

Apologies for the 'anti six again' misread

Absolutely!
I see they have also outlawed the ‘Asiata Tackle’.

There's a great joke here but it's not very PC so I'll shut up!

| The focus on Head Contact is going to change our game. Rugby Union has moved quite well with relatively few sendings off in the recent world cup. In Rugby League we have always tackled high ... "they can't run without their head". I can see lots of red cards for collisions that most of us would class as rugby incidents. We will have to change. This will upset all of us who have loved (and played in) the era of biff & bash but I reckon we are in for a rude awakening and I suppose we knew it was coming.
