| Quote: Lord Tony Smith "
Sell Gelling, Widdop, BMM, Sita, Currie, Jason Clark.'"
Gelling and currie have been good for us this year, none of this is their fault. The rest I agree (BMM already chosen to leave) but also add Latu, just a pointless signing.
If our back row has hughes and Clark in at the same time we stink. That's happened time and time again. It's just too negative and basically takes out backs out of the game. Liam Moore just doesn't shout held, hull were smart enough to hit the ground quickly and get a fast ptb. Jason Clark just kept standing up and stealing all of our momentum and let them have a nice breather. King and currie is our 2nd row answer with Inglis and Gelling in the centres. Smart attacking line up that. Provided of course that we get a proper coach in.

| I cannot agree the comments on Jack Hughes or for that matter Jason Clark. They tackle well. They're usually on the pitch for the full 80. They're not Liam Farrell but there aren't many like him. They do the job they're given - and you can't say that about too many of them.

I agree and like what they do but they blunt out attack as well. Hughes would definitely be our 13 for me and Clark probably on the bench. I just don't think it works with them in the same team.

Agree 100%. Hughes for all his qualities in defence invariably stops the attack dead in its tracks by coming inside all the time. They are both good players but too alike to have in the same pack set up.

The thread is called moving forward and you are advocating Hughes and Clark remain jn the first choice 17? We also have Davis and Robson and they can do the same job as well. At the.moment we have one back rower who can.make a break, hit a gap or time a pass - Ben Currie, a man some people are advocating we bin off.

| Widdop is by far our best half, Austin has stank the place out for a while, Widdop at least tries to find runners, it’s not his fault our forwards are not capable of running a line barring Ben Currie.

| It’s time to get a top, tried and tested coach. The options are McDermot and Wane; the rest are up and coming but nothing more and too risky.
It’s a business and the appointment of the right CEO and coach is absolutely crucial. Both Fitzpatrick with zero experience and business credibility and Price with his mediocre record were poor appointments.
Just speaking to Price or sitting through an interview would convince you that there’s nothing special or inspirational.

Can't help but feel it's all been set up wrong all season Austin doesn't have a kicking game and widdop does so Austin gets all the last pkay kicks!
If we had a coach who could utilise the skill set of each of our halves and the rest of the squad properly we should have been fantastic this season.
I don't blame any of the players at all, the effort has been there to see all year. This has 100% been the fault of the way we have been Coached and asked to perform in terms of in game tactics. Steve Price has to go, it just doesn't work.

I lost interest when you said they were both good players. They're not.

| Give your head a wobble. They may not be your heroes or the players we need necessarily as our 2 back rowers but to say they are not good player is a nonsense. Your classification of a good player obviously does not include internationals or players with multiple years of experience in the NRL

| Hughes is largely unappreciated, he is a tackling machine and a brilliant defender. He also takes some useful carries and rarely turns over possession. I can accept the criticism of clark, I don't think he will be on a cheap salary either. He is a good defender though, just doesn't offer much else.

Aaaah yes, the "they played in the NRL so must be good" argument. The competition that gave us Latu, Asotasi, Akuola, Roberts and God bless him Craig Teitzell.
Hughes I can cope with - he tackles. A lot. Fair enough. Hughes plus J Clarke, Davis and Robson is a surfeit of tackling machines. Tackling isn't our problem, scoring points is.
My head remains wobble free.

Very well put MIAW. You can't win a game of rugby by defending for 80 minutes and when the belief breaks so does the defence anyway. Attack is the best form of defence IMO, in 2012 we had the best defence and the best attack and there fore best points difference by a mile. The defensive stat was largely so good because we made the opposition defend so much. What a year to be a wire fan (except for the end of course).

| Invest in the academy and don’t make big glamour signings like Austin/Widdop/Inglis.
The Saints, Leeds and Wigan sides who have been successful all have a nucleus of home grown lads in key positions. With a few overseas players to just put the cherry on top, Wigan won the GF in 2018 with ZERO Australians.
Not trusting Robson to even play one minute sums up the lack of faith.
Too many of your players looked like they were quite happy for the off-season to start a week or two earlier.
