Did you mean Whitehead ahead of Evans ?
If so, I would agree. Evans had a strong end of season but (IMO) is not playing the same standard of rugby as Whitehead yet. I would quite like to have seen him play in the Championship for a year to give him time to develop. He is still very young for a prop and he has had a number of injuries. However, I suspect any loan opportunities for our 'U20' will be quickly snapped up in the current climate, and he has done very well to get a slot at a SL club.

| Remember the days when we got excited if ever we picked up a 'cast off ' player from one of the 'big four'?

1883.jpg Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

A couple of things:
Despite playing U20s games at prop, for me, Evans is a backrower in the Louis Anderson mould.
In respect of Whitehead v Evans, I would put them on an even footing. Whithead is a good attacking backrower whom's defence leaves a fair bit to be desired. Evans is the opposite of that.

Well this is an interesting debate.
I would agree about Whitehead, and he is a bit 'hit and miss' with his tackling. I would also agree about Evans being very busy in defence, but from what I have seen he lacks a bit of pace. He also seems to have a frame that looks more suited to prop as well. I was expecting him to put on a bit more bulk / muscle in the close season and fill the prop role. I would see Laithwaite and Currie as being more in the Anderson mould as they have the pace to go with the size.
Either way, it will be interesting to see how he develops.

'" No, can't remember seeing Evans play so couldn't give an opinion. But one poster had put Evans behind Bateman but ahead of Whitehead. I think Whitehead is a much better player than Bateman.

Derek Whitehead was marginally better than Allan Bateman

| Apparently, according to the Guardian website, Lee Mitchell is now a free agent & is going to try & develop his career by going to Australia to try & get some game time in the Brisbane area. His loan spell at Cas has expired & he has not been offered any more terms at Warrington.

like us signing adam fogerty in 98, which was considered a huge signing despite him being a bit part player at sintellins, and that he hadn't played or trained for 12 months when we picked him up.

Or Tony Burke (also from Saints) in 91 I think. Suspect we had £3.50 profit from the 1990 cc appearance and it was a toss up between Tony and a new set of coasters for the players lounge.

50086_1357229109.jpg [b:33tg3xj5]Me:[/b:33tg3xj5] I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.
[b:33tg3xj5]knockersbumpMKII:[/b:33tg3xj5] Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_50086.jpg |
