haven't been to the new Wetherspoons yet (The Looking Glass, previously Yate's, previously The Odeon) - how does it compare to the originial one (Friar Penketh) ? Anything to distinguish the two ? Any decent ales ? (or best to avoid and go to the Lower Angel next door for that...?)

Not as wide a selection of ale if you ask me
and i have been stung by absolutely revolting ales there once or twice. There was a JD wtherspoons one for the world cup that was rank.
It obviously isn't as big as the friar penketh. IT does feel cramped but the verander there on a sunny day is always worth a visit. |
