Agreed. He's been in and around the first team since 2015 and played 43 games. He is not a rookie.
If not now, then when?

Stef may be one of those players that can play a number of positions but none quite to the standard of a SL winning side specialist player. I like him a lot due to his attacking play and creativity but we tried him in the halves and centre. I'm running out of places he can play.

It seems you missed my whole point.

I didn't, I read it and I don't have to agree with it.
For me the full back role has changed, but solid last line of defence against line breaks and being able to catch and field kicks are still essential requirements.

For you then that's OK.
So long as he doesn't break out of that flat back 13 then I'll be happy..

Whats wrong with been a back up half? Every squad needs one? And maybe that is all he is ever going to be despite a lot of promise earlier in his career. Every time i have seen him play, he has not looked a world beater but he definitely hasn`t looked out of place.. Obviously your coaches don`t think he is good enough to be a first choice half otherwise they would not have gone out and bought 2 first choice half`s - They would surely have just brought someone in as cover? There are players in every SL team that are happy to be a backup/squad player.
I am going to the game tonight as a neutral, i think Wire will win and i think you will pull away in the second half quite convincingly. Hull FC were beyond rubbish in the first half last week, with errors, field position, soft defense and Hudds could still only just about keep themselves in the game - When Hull come out and played the basics they blew them away quite quickly.

| By some of the thinking on here Briers wouldn’t have lasted at the start of his career had we had 2 half decent half backs. I don’t know if Dec will eventually make it as a first choice player but I have no problem with him being given time to develop.
As for injuries every team gets them. Was it Alan Bateman that hurt himself emptying the baby’s bath?

You can't judge a player by only 1 set criteria no matter how one sided you want an argument to be. Sure it would be preferable if our fullback wasn't needed to tackle 1 on 1 but when faced with that challenge (which in rugby league is pretty much unavoidable at times) he should be aiming to at least slow the attacker down. Im not just bagging ratchford here, Ratchford has been good there for the most part but last weeks try by hall wasn't great, although I must stress that I appreciate its not fair to just say that it was ratchfords fault given the soft tackle misses before hall came to ratchford.
In all positions decisions make a player look good or bad, players will get lots right but it's always more noticeable when they get it wrong. If the fullback just stood in a defensive line of 13 all the time he would probably be in the right place most of the time but he would (quite rightly) get absolutely pillared for his positioning when we concede lots of 4th and 5th play tries and 40/20's because the space behind our line was wide open! We'd probably also start most of our sets in out own 20 and find points hard to come by.

Don’t remember saying anything wrong with being a back up half, my point is there as been such a lot said about this lad that it as not come to fruition.

| Just in case anybody is making the trip that the M60 ACW is due to be closed tonight between J14 (A580) and J12 (m62) due to be shut at 22:00 so if you are a bit sharp getting away from Huddersfield then you may get through before it gets shut. The 19:45 Ko may help a bit here.
