| Didn't think we'd get a comfortable win today, and would have taken sneaking the points in a scrappy affair at 3 this afternoon. Now I'm beginning to believe that Widdop and Ratchford are part of the problem, rather than the solution.
Well done to the young lads who are developing very well, and at last our academy set up is looking to bear the fruit that we've needed for a long time. Riley Dean ought to get more game time on the back of todays performance.

I actually thought it was excellent (I'm trusting my eyesight here Magoo-esque at times) but i think he grubbered well set up try's with it forced a drop out we looked a lot better with our last tackle plays than we have done for quite some time.'"
We need to offer Dean a contract PDQ and get him signed-up on a long term basis.
His current contract expires at the end of this season.

| Ratchford, or the crazy deification of him has been part of the problem for a while. Thewlis’ stats have almost surpassed Ratchfords for the entire of last season….after 6 games and in a side doing comfortably worse. Bench at best from now on, Widdop can just go.

Spoke to him briefly after the game, and he wasn`t in any discomfort then, just on cloud 9 after scoring a hat trick.

| Great win today, although there is something drastically wrong when we are better when both of our marquee halves aren't playing!
Sign up Riley Dean, if he gets a run now he shouldn't lose his shirt, regardless of who is available. Thewlis is already there, no way he should lose that fullback shirt now except for injury or a drastic drop of form.

| Need to cut out the mistakes for Wigan game .Huddersfield started to claw their way back for a spell in 2nd half but luckily they made more errors than us. Perhaps a lot of the problems today though weren't helped by the swirling wind.
Amazing how many chances we lost in the first 20 minutes on our left side with wrong decisions & lack of composure ,we could have had the game won by half time , but more game time for the youngsters should rectify that.

Already said this earlier in the thread, would be a travesty if Thewlis is dropped because the golden 3 are all fit, got to drop either Ratchford or Widdop if that’s the case.

We are playing Wigan one game before their semi final with Saints, so hopefully they will have one eye on their Challenge Cup game.

| Interesting indication of what kind of coach Powell will be in terms of selection. If the 3 drop back in when fit then something is pretty wrong.
We forced 2 repeat sets this game I think. Felt like zero the last 2 games with Widdop and Ratchford in the halves.
It’s hard not to get excited by Dean. We’ve seen young lads like O Brien and Patten come and go but they never but their stamp on a game like Dean did.

Widdop for me, ratchford is the better player at the moment.
So today we had a far better field position and game management with a 20 year old inexperienced youngster and a centre in the halves, its been a real problem so far the halfback positions. If Riley Dean is the best of our options for the team then a marquee player simply has to be dropped. Up to Dean to make the shirt his own like thewlis has.

In our run of defeats, I have noticed that at the end of the games, Widdop was laughing with the opposition players, while other Wire players were obviously hurting after another loss.
This is Widdop`s last season with us and I think that is heart is in Australia where his family are.
It`s time for Powell to look to the future now, and omit Widdop from our squad.

Surely Thewlis has nailed that fullback spot now, what more can he do than play extremely well every chance he has had and score a hattrick in his last game?

It's more than the eyecatching scoring and distance gain stats though, how safe is he under a high ball? He had the nouse to hold his legs high last week against Hull to force a tackle in the air, his positioning is absolutely fantastic. The kid is a natural, he's already a fantastic fullback defensively, nice to see his attack from fullback developing as well. If we don't get this kid a starting fullback shirt another good team will. I want to see him get a testimonial at Warrington personally. I think he's the best youngster we have brought through since Ben currie with the potential to go on and be even more than that.
